Sitting atop the outright markets are the Los Angeles Thieves, which comes as no surprise. The recent meta shift seems to have benefited the LA Thieves more than any other team in the league, allowing them to find their stride.
After winning Major 3, the Los Angeles Thieves also dominated Major 4, and concluded the online stage with a perfect 5-0 record. They now hold a 13-game winning streak, meaning they’re one win short of setting a new CDL record for the longest winning streak in the history of the league.
LA Thieves are the clear best team in the league ahead of Major 4, but not the only potential winners.
OpTic Texas are close behind the LA Thieves, viewed as the second-strongest squad in the league. This comes as no surprise, as OpTic have consistently been in Major title races, granted they’ve also become known to choke at the final hurdle.
The quality is there, and OpTic have all the tools they need to succeed. The only question is whether they can (finally) get over the final hurdle.
FaZe Vegas are third in line to win the Major, priced at 5.50. This sounds fair, as even though FaZe remain one of the top contenders to win the league, they’ve looked a bit shaky in Stage 4.
Since the meta change, they are 9-9, which is not optimal. However, they’ve looked much better of late, as FaZe have started to play with a lot more pace, and both Chris "Simp" Lehr and Zachary "Drazah" Jordan have been performing notably better.
However, while FaZe are expected to make a run for a top-three finish, they also have to fight through a tough draw.
Paris Gentle Mates are viewed as dark horses to make a run, but they have one notable advantage other teams do not – support from the home crowd. This is often overlooked but no less important, especially with reports that the venue is selling out 30,000 to 40,000 tickets.
CDL Major 4 might be the first Major in history not to have the majority of OpTic fans. And while the crowd support is important, Paris Gentle Mates have also looked very potent this stage, especially with the arrival of JoeDecieves.
This squad have the tools to succeed, and it would not be the most shocking thing to see them make a grand final appearance, despite the challenging draw.
