Both teams enter the playoffs with high expectations. Perhaps more so G2 Esports, who had a great start to the season and carry the tag of one of the serious title contenders.
On the other side, 100 Thieves have recently come into form, with two solid showings against KRU Esports and FURIA, suggesting they have what it takes to make a deep run.
While G2 Esports should be expected to win, 100 Thieves are no pushovers and can present a proper challenge.

G2 Esports Have More to Prove
G2 Esports closed out the regular season with a 2-0 sweep of Cloud9’s new roster. They won with 13-6 on Lotus and 13-9 on Split, in a fairly dominant victory. Granted th,at was expected.
G2 started Stage 1 slow, with defeats against MIBR and Leviatan, but have looked much cleaner over the final three weeks, producing three 2-0 sweeps of LOUD, ENVY, and Cloud9.
That run, while impressive, also comes with an asterisk, as G2 Esports have only found success against some of the weaker teams in Group Alpha – so it is fair to say they have more to prove. On the other side, G2 have already shown what they’re capable of in the Kickoff event.

100 Thieves Are In Good Shape
100 Thieves qualified for the VCT Americas playoffs as Group Omega’s third seed, after a huge victory over FURIA in the final week of the regular season.
It was a nice result for 100T, who looked somewhat shaky early into the stage, with a 2-0 win over Evil Geniuses and two losses against Sentinels and NRG.
However, over the final two weeks, 100 Thieves have beaten KRU and FURIA, indicating that 100 Thieves have the tools to do well against the region’s top teams.

Verdict
G2 Esports are expected to dominate 100 Thieves, which makes sense, as they have accomplished a lot more this season and have a higher ceiling.
However, you could argue that G2 have not proven themselves this stage, having beaten only weaker teams.
In their defence, G2 Esports started slow due to fatigue from playing in the Masters, so there is a world where they perform much better in the playoffs. On the other side, 100 Thieves have momentum on their side, having beaten KRU and FURIA, which is no small feat.
While those results could’ve been nothing more than a flash in the pan, 100T look potent and should not be underestimated.
At these numbers, I like my chances with 100 Thieves. They’ve looked solid and, outside of some minor hiccups, have proven themselves as an elite team.
