Birmingham vs Wrexham Betting Tips & Predictions - Goals Tipped in Championship Matchup

This weekend's football match promises excitement as both teams exhibit vulnerabilities in their defenses. The prediction suggests betting on both teams to score (BTTS) with odds of 1.66, indicating a high probability of goals at both ends. Additionally, there is a recommendation for a small stake on an away win, with odds set at 3.5. This suggests confidence in the visiting team potentially capitalizing on the defensive frailties. Fans can expect a thrilling match with plenty of goal-scoring opportunities at either end.

Birmingham vs Wrexham Predictions

Goals can usually be expected when Wrexham are involved, and both teams should get on the scoresheet again this weekend.

BTTS is my first pick, while I also fancy the Dragons to claim a much-needed away win.

BTTS Looks Likely in Birmingham

  • Birmingham have seen BTTS in 11 of their last 14 home matches
  • Birmingham lost 6 of their last 8 matches
  • Birmingham have seen BTTS in their last 3 matches against Wrexham
  • Wrexham have seen BTTS in 9 of their last 11 matches
  • Wrexham won 2 of their last 4 matches

Birmingham Unbeaten in Recent Wrexham H2H

Birmingham and Wrexham have met on three occasions since 2024. The Saints claimed a 3-1 home win before successive 1-1 draws in their two most recent encounters in 2025.

Birmingham Slump Continues

Birmingham return to St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park after another disappointing Championship reversal at Ipswich last Monday. Carlos Vicente gave the Blues a first-half lead before quick replies from Ben Johnson and Kasey McAteer secured a vital victory for the promotion hopefuls.

Chris Davies' side could have little complaint with the final result at Portman Road. Birmingham registered an xG of just 0.46 as they fell to a 13th away defeat of the season.

In the promotion hunt at the turn of the year, the Blues' form has collapsed in recent weeks. The hosts have lost six and won just one of their last eight Championship matches since the end of February.

While usually solid at home, with just three defeats in 20 league games this season, recent performances at St Andrew's have been underwhelming. Birmingham have failed to win four of their last five on home soil.

That downturn has seen the Blues slip to 16th in the table, now 13 points adrift of the play-off places.

Wrexham Playoff Hopes Hit

Wrexham make the trip to Birmingham after a painful 5-1 home defeat against playoff rivals Southampton earlier this week. Late goals from Ross Stewart and Finn Azaz added gloss to a dominant victory for the in-form Saints.

A clinical display in front of goal saw the visitors score five times from an xG of just 2.35.

The Dragons' hopes of a historic fourth successive promotion have been dented in recent weeks. Wrexham lost three of their last six Championship fixtures and now find themselves outside of the playoff positions with just five games to play.

Frequently involved in high-scoring outcomes, nine of Wrexham's last 11 games finished with BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored.

Solid on their travels, the Welsh club lost just five of 20 away Championship games this season. Phil Parkinson's men claimed a 2-1 win at Sheffield United before a 2-2 draw at WBA in their two most recent road trips.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Birmingham (4-2-3-1) James Beadle; Bright Osayi-Samuel, Christoph Klarer, Phil Neumann, Ethan Laird; Tomoki Iwata, Jhon Solis; Carlos Vicente, Jay Stansfield, Demarai Gray; August Priske.

Head coach Davies is likely to make changes following their defeat at Ipswich. Tomoki Iwata could replace the injured Paik Seung-Ho, while Ethan Laird may come in at full-back.

Marvin Ducksch is pushing for a recall in attack, but Alex Cochrane, Kai Wagner, Kyogo Furuhashi and Lee Buchanan are all ruled out through injury.

Davies felt his side were unfortunate not to take something from their recent defeat at Portman Road.

“I thought the least we deserved was a point from today's game,” he told BBC Radio WM.

“We scored a legitimate goal, and I've never been as frustrated with a refereeing decision in my entire career in football, because of how hard we worked at a place like this to get into that position.”

Wrexham (3-4-2-1) Arthur Okonkwo; Max Cleworth, Dominic Hyam, Callum Doyle; Issa Kabore, Zak Vyner, George Dobson, George Thomason; Josh Windass, Lewis O'Brien; Kieffer Moore.

Head coach Parkinson also has a few injury issues to contend with. Ben Sheaf, Liberato Cacace and Thomas O'Connor are all unavailable.

Parkinson urged his Wrexham players to stay positive despite their heavy defeat to Southampton, insisting there is still plenty to play for in the run-in.

"There's been a review of the performance on Wednesday with the team," Parkinson told BBC Sport Wales.

"I think that was important because, as much as everybody was speaking about how good Southampton were, and they are a strong side, we know we can do a lot better."

Verdict

Both teams are vulnerable in defence, and I expect goals at either end this weekend. BTTS is my first pick, while I also have a small stake on an away win.
