Chesterfield will look to secure more points at their home ground, the SMH Group Stadium, as they face Tranmere in League Two action. Tranmere have a reputation for drawing away matches, making a draw the strongest prediction for this fixture. With recommended bets on a full-time draw (4.2 odds) and a 1-1 result (8 odds), punters are encouraged to back an even contest.

Chesterfield vs Tranmere Preview

Chesterfield are a decent home side and Tranmere are draw specialists in League Two. These sides are in similar recent form and a draw has good value.

Key Stats - Draw Specialists

  • Chesterfield have drawn 1-1 in their last 2 matches against Tranmere.
  • Tranmere have drawn 3 of their last 4 away games.

H2H

Chesterfield have a 46-38 advantage against Tranmere, alongside 22 draws.

Chesterfield Are Hard to Beat at Home

Chesterfield are in solid recent form and are undefeated six of their previous seven matches, including three draws. They have avoided defeat in their last five home games.

The Spireites were on a six-match unbeaten run in all competitions. Chesterfield drew three home games in that spell against Gillingham 1-1, Barnet 3-3 and Port Vale 1-1.

The Derbyshire side then lost 2-1 away at Cheltenham in League Two. Paul Cook’s team trailed 2-0 at half time, had 2.62 XG and Louie Marsh scored in the 49th minute.

Tranmere Draw a Lot in League Two

Darrell Clarke’s Tranmere are unbeaten in seven of their opening eight League Two matches this season, drawing five.

Rovers have drawn a joint league-high of three away matches in 2026/27. The Wirral outfit played out a 0-0 stalemate at Exeter in their last away fixture.

The Exeter draw started a three-match unbeaten run. Tranmere followed that result with a 1-0 EFL Trophy home win over Shrewsbury.

Clarke’s outfit drew again on Saturday after a 1-1 deadlock with Walsall. Bobby Faulkner scored in the 73rd minute and Tranmere conceded in second-half injury time.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Chesterfield (4-2-3-1): Ryan Boot; Remeao Hutton, Kyle McFadzean, Jack Simpson, Lewis Gordon; George McEachran, Ryan Stirk; Dilan Markanday, Louie Marsh, Joel Randall; Lee Bonis

Goalkeeper James Sissons and attacking trio Gunner Elliott, Danni Anisjko and Josh Koroma are on international duty.

Ruel Sotiriou is unavailable due to a long-term calf issue. Chesterfield’s assistant manager gave a recent update on the attacker’s fitness and said:

“He was expecting to be out for seven to eight weeks and I think he is a couple of weeks ahead of schedule. He is back running this week but we won’t see him in a shirt for at least a fortnight.”

Tranmere (4-2-3-1): Harrison Male; Joel Senior, Nathan Smith, George Nevett, Jacob Slater; Will Vaulks, Tom Conlon; Zane Okoro, Tom Ince, Charlie Whitaker; Dylan Jones

Attacker Connor Jennings has a long-term knee injury and won’t feature.

Verdict

Chesterfield will want to keep picking up points at the SMH Group Stadium and Tranmere draw a lot on the road. A League Two draw is the best bet on Saturday.
