Crystal Palace will face Newcastle in an exciting Premier League match at Selhurst Park. Both teams have been seeing goals scored at both ends in their recent games, making BTTS (Both Teams To Score) a highly viable betting choice. Newcastle comes into this match with a recent stumbling performance against Sunderland, whereas Crystal Palace rides high after a significant win over Fiorentina in the Conference League. With the season entering its critical final phase, the stakes are high as both teams eye crucial points. Team lineups reveal some key absentees for both sides due to injuries.

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle Predictions

Newcastle will be desperate for three points but seem unlikely to keep a clean sheet at Selhurst Park. BTTS is my preferred choice for Sunday's Premier League contest.

BTTS Likely in London

  • Crystal Palace have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 9 matches (Premier League)
  • Newcastle have seen BTTS in 15 of their last 16 matches

Newcastle Edge Recent H2H Record Against Crystal Palace

Newcastle and Crystal Palace have met on 13 occasions since 2020. Newcastle won five games while Palace picked up three victories.

Crystal Palace Cruise Past Fiorentina

Crystal Palace return to Premier League action after a superb 3-0 win against Fiorentina in their Conference League quarter-final first-leg clash on Thursday. Ismaila Sarr's 90th-minute strike capped a dominant performance from the Eagles.

Oliver Glasner's side were deserved winners at Selhurst Park, with a final xG of 3.05 highlighting their control of the contest. Fiorentina managed just 0.45 from seven shots on the Palace goal.

Following a worrying dip in form at the turn of the year, Glasner's men have begun to find some form again. The Eagles won five and lost just one of eight previous fixtures across all competitions.

While high-scoring outcomes have been relatively infrequent, only three of the Londoners' last nine Premier League fixtures failed to see both teams score.

With eight games still to play in the season, Palace sit 14th in the division, ten clear of the drop zone and only three behind Newcastle.

Newcastle Stumble against Sunderland

Newcastle make the trip to London three weeks on from their last Premier League outing, a 2-1 home defeat against local rivals Sunderland.

Anthony Gordon opened the scoring for the Magpies, but second-half goals from Chemsdine Talbi and Brian Brobbey secured a deserved victory for the Black Cats.

Sunderland were worthy winners, posting an xG of 2.44 compared to the hosts' 1.29 as they completed a first home-and-away league double over Newcastle since 2014.

A lack of defensive cohesion remains a major concern for Eddie Howe's side. The Magpies have conceded two or more goals in six of their last nine matches, while managing just one clean sheet in 17 games since mid-January.

Inconsistent performances have been reflected in the visitors' recent results. Newcastle have lost three and won just one of their last five matches since a 2-1 victory against Man Utd at the start of March.

With seven games remaining in the Premier League season, Howe's side sit 12th in the table, just four points behind seventh-placed Brentford.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Crystal Palace (3-4-2-1) Walter Benitez; Chris Richards, Maxence Lacroix, Jaydee Canvot; Brennan Johnson, Will Hughes, Jefferson Lerma, Tyrick Mitchell; Ismaila Sarr, Evann Guessand; Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Head coach Glasner has just two expected absentees this weekend. Eddie Nketiah and Cheick Doucoure remain unavailable for the Eagles.

Speaking after the midweek win against Fiorentina, Glasner praised his side's performance.

"More importantly for me was the performance in the first half, and then let's say the last 20 minutes. Brilliant, fantastic performance, great pressure, playing well, and always attacking the box, the balls in behind.

“We knew that they are very compact, but we were going in behind and creating so many chances, which was great to see."

Newcastle (4-2-3-1) Aaron Ramsdale; Kieran Trippier, Malick Thiaw, Daniel Burn, Lewis Hall; Joelinton, Jacob Ramsey; Anthony Elanga, Nick Woltemade, Harvey Barnes; Anthony Gordon.

Newcastle boss Howe has a few injury headaches this weekend. Bruno Guimaraes, Fabian Schär and Sven Botman are all ruled out, while Emil Krafth remains a long-term absentee.

Responding to speculation surrounding his future at the club, head coach Howe spoke of his commitment to the Magpies.

“For me, nothing has changed. I'm absolutely 100 per cent committed to the job,” said Howe.

“That commitment has never wavered from my side. I've been working during the break to make sure we come back a stronger team.”

Verdict

A fresher Newcastle could have the edge in a game where both teams should get on the scoresheet.
