Bournemouth vs Sunderland Preview

Bournemouth and Sunderland rarely win in the Premier League. Both sides played in Europe on Thursday and a cagey draw is the best bet at the Vitality.

Key Stats - Cherries Draw in the EPL

  • Bournemouth have drawn 8 of their last 10 Premier League home games.
  • Bournemouth are winless in their last 2 games against Sunderland.
  • Sunderland are winless in their last 4 Premier League matches.

Sunderland have a 6-2 advantage against Bournemouth, alongside four draws.

Bournemouth Are Home Draw Specialists

Bournemouth are in inconsistent long-term Premier League form and have failed to win in eight consecutive games. The south coast side have drawn five in that spell, including three home stalemates.

The Cherries drew three league fixtures in a row against Everton 1-1 and Brentford 2-2 at home and Newcastle away 2-2.

Marco Rose’s outfit lost their following two league games against Liverpool 1-0 and Chelsea 5-1. Bournemouth had just nine shots in both defeats.

The Dorset side replied with a one-sided 3-0 Europa League home triumph over Sturm Graz. The Cherries were on top with 2.84 XG and Evanilson, Rayan and Alvaro Rodriguez found the net.

Sunderland Dropping Premier League Points

Sunderland have slipped to 17th in the Premier League table after a drop-off in form. Regis Le Bris’ side are winless in their last four league fixtures.

The Black Cats have gained just one point from their previous four following a 1-1 draw at Brentford. Three consecutive losses followed against Arsenal 2-0, Man City 5-3 and Brighton 2-0.

The north east team beat a second-tier Portuguese side Torreense 2-1 in the Europa League on Thursday. Sunderland conceded in the first half, replied with 22 shots and Jules Ahoka and Noah Sadiki struck in the last 25 minutes.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Bournemouth (4-2-3-1): Djorde Petrovic; Adam Smith, James Hill, Antonio Silva, Adrien Truffert; Tyler Adams, Ryan Christie; Rayan, David Brooks, Marcus Tavernier; Evanilson

Centre-back Veljko Milosavljevic is an injury doubt. Midfielder Alex Scott, attacker Eli Junior Kroupi and defender Julian Araujo are ruled out due to injury.

Sunderland (4-2-3-1): Robin Roefs; Nordi Mukiele, Kevin Danso, Omar Alderete, Reinildo Mandava; Granit Xhaka, Noah Sadiki; Chris Rigg, Enzo Le Fee, Nilson Angulo; Chemsdine Talbi

Defenders Thomas Meunier and Dan Ballard and attacker Romaine Mundle are injured and unavailable.

Wilson Isidor is unlikely to feature after missing the Torreense match. Regis Le Bris provided further details on the striker’s absence and said, "Wilson got a minor injury, and we'll assess day by day, we don't know for Bournemouth.”

Verdict

Bournemouth draw loads of Premier League home games and Sunderland needs points. A close-fought draw is anticipated on Sunday.
