Ipswich vs Nottingham Forest Preview

Ipswich don’t lose many home games and have beaten mid-lower table opponents at Portman Road recently. Nottingham Forest lose a lot and home win or draw is the best bet in the Premier League.

Key Stats - Tricky Trees Struggling

  • Ipswich are unbeaten in 23 of their last 26 home games
  • Ipswich are unbeaten in 6 of their last 8 home matches against Nottingham Forest
  • Nottingham Forest have lost their last 3 matches

H2H

Nottingham Forest have a 42-22 advantage against Ipswich, alongside 19 draws.

Ipswich Picking Up Points at Home

Gary O’Neil’s Ipswich are comfortably in the Premier League’s mid-table after securing nine points from seven games.

The Tractor Boys have won two of their three league home games, 2-1 against Sunderland and Fulham. They had 1.8 and 1.15 XG in those victories.

O’Neil’s side couldn’t build momentum after the Fulham win and lost 3-2 at Man City. Ipswich had 1.86 XG and goals from Daizen Maeda and Zian Flemming weren’t enough to prevent defeat.

Nottingham Forest Rarely Win

Nottingham Forest are winless in six of their opening seven matches in the Premier League. The Midlands outfit are 19th in the table with five points.

Forest were winless in their first four matches of the season in all competitions and failed to score in three games. The Tricky Trees’ only recent win was a 2-1 victory at Aston Villa, where Igor Jesus scored an 88th-minute winner.

Oliver Glasner’s side have lost three matches in a row since that triumph. Forest lost 1-0 at home against newly promoted Ipswich and 3-1 at Crystal Palace.

Another 1-0 defeat came on Sunday at home against Arsenal. The Reds had -1 XG, no big chances and conceded with 10 minutes left.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Ipswich (4-2-3-1): Christian Walton; Abdoul Ouattara, Issa Diop, Dara O'Shea, Leif Davis; Florentino, Exequiel Palacios; Issahaku Fatawu, Julio Enciso, Daizen Maeda; Emersonn

Midfielders Sasa Lukic and Jack Taylor could return to the squad after recent injuries. Gary O’Neil explained that his side is near “full strength”.

Nottingham Forest (3-4-2-1): Matz Sels; Jair Cunha, Ousmane Diomande, Murillo; Daniel Munoz, James McAtee, Xaver Schlager, Neco Williams; Morgan Gibbs-White, Dan Ndoye; Liam Delap

Defender Nicola Savona and striker Igor Jesus are sidelined due to injury. Centre-back Nikola Milenkovic is doubtful with a hamstring problem.

Morgan Gibbs-White missed the Arsenal match with a muscle issue. Oliver Glasner shared that the midfielder was left out to avoid further injury and said, “I expect him back for the Ipswich game.”

Verdict

Ipswich are a tough-to-beat home side and have picked up Premier League wins at Portman Road. The Tractor Boys can take at least a point from a Forest side that looks low on confidence.
