Trabzonspor host Hearts at Papara Park in the Conference League, with the Turkish side in strong form after four consecutive wins, including victories over Galatasaray and Besiktas. Hearts arrive in Turkey on the back of a heavy 7-1 loss to Celtic and have struggled defensively in recent away matches. The article expects Trabzonspor to secure a high-scoring home win, noting their attacking prowess and consistency at home, while also suggesting both teams are likely to score.

Trabzonspor vs Hearts Predictions

Trabzonspor take on Hearts at Papara Park in the second round of Conference League fixtures on Thursday.

The Turkish side have found their stride and should fancy their chances against a Hearts team reeling from Sunday's heavy defeat at Celtic.

Trabzonspor to win & over 2.5 goals is my best bet.

High-Scoring Home Win Expected

  • Trabzonspor won 5 of their last 6 matches (competitive fixtures)
  • Trabzonspor scored 13 goals in their last 4 matches
  • Hearts lost 4 of their last 5 away matches (European fixtures)
  • Hearts have seen an average of 3.93 goals per game in their last 16 matches
  • Hearts have seen BTTS in 11 of their last 13 matches

Trabzonspor and Hearts Set For First Competitive Meeting

Trabzonspor and Hearts will meet for the first time on Thursday.

Trabzonspor Make It Four Wins in a Row

Trabzonspor return to Conference League action after an impressive 2-0 home win against Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig on Monday.

Ozan Tufan opened the scoring from close range midway through the first half before Mohamed Salah sealed the points after the interval.

Both teams had plenty of chances to score in a competitive Super Lig fixture. Besiktas had 19 shots to Trabzonspor's 13, but the hosts registered the higher xG total, 2.41 compared to the visitors' 1.32.

The Black Sea side have now won all four competitive games under recently appointed boss Reis, scoring 13 goals and conceding just twice.

The Turks' impressive run began with a superb 4-0 home win against Galatasaray, with Mo Salah scoring a hat-trick.

A 3-0 win at Samsunspor followed before Trabzonspor began their Conference League campaign with a 4-2 victory at KuPS last Thursday.

Particularly strong at Papara Park, Trabzonspor won their last three competitive home fixtures without conceding.

Hearts Look to Recover from Parkhead Rout

Hearts travel to Turkey after a chastening 7-1 defeat at Celtic in the Premiership on Sunday.

Callum Osmand and Benjamin Nygren both scored twice for the champions, with Kieran Tierney, Camilo Duran and a Jamie McCart own goal completing the rout.

Laurent Mendy's first-half strike provided scant consolation for the shell-shocked Jambos.

Celtic were good value for their resounding victory, creating nine big chances to Hearts’ one and recording a far higher xG total (4.22-1.56).

Sunday’s damaging defeat leaves Hearts third in the Premiership, eight points behind Celtic after nine league games.

Wouter Vrancken's side had been in excellent form before their thrashing in Glasgow. The Scots lost just one of their 13 previous competitive fixtures but have now failed to win four of their five most recent fixtures.

The Edinburgh side kicked off their Conference League campaign with a frustrating 1-1 draw against Nordsjaelland last week. Despite creating several chances to add to Oisin McEntee’s first-half opener, Hearts were forced to settle for a point after Nicklas Rojkjaer's late equaliser.

On the road, Hearts have struggled defensively in recent weeks. Vrancken’s men conceded ten goals in their last three away games, losing at Falkirk and Celtic either side of a draw at Kilmarnock.

Trabzonspor vs Hearts Team News

Trabzonspor: (4-2-3-1) Andre Onana; Wagner Pina, Chibuike Nwaiwu, Stefan Savic, Sidny Lopes Cabral; Ozan Tufan, Fabinho; Mohamed Salah, Benjamin Bouchouari, Aral Simsir; Franculino Dju.

Trabzonspor boss Reis has a handful of expected absentees this week. Okay Yokuslu, Arseniy Batahov, Onuralp Cevikkan and Ruslan Malinovskyi are unavailable, while Paul Onuachu is also expected to miss out.

Franculino Dju should continue to lead the attack after scoring twice at KuPS.

Mo Salah is expected to retain his place on the right after scoring in each of the hosts' last two matches.

Hearts: (4-2-3-1) Beau Reus; Jordi Altena, Malachi Fagan-Walcott, Stuart Findlay, Harry Milne; Laurent Mendy, Oisin McEntee; Calvin Miller, Claudio Braga, Josh McPake; James Wilson.

Hearts boss Vrancken could make changes after Sunday's heavy defeat at Parkhead. Harry Milne and James Wilson are among those in contention after starting on the bench at Celtic.

Craig Halkett, Blair Spittal, Ageu and Tom Renaud remain sidelined while Christian Borchgrevink will be assessed after missing the trip to Parkhead.

Vrancken blamed individual mistakes for last Sunday's disastrous defeat at Celtic:

"Really disappointing, and also the way it happened. Two set plays killed our game at the start of the game. All of their goals, even when I go back, individual mistakes and then it's difficult to win a game.

"In the set play moments, you have to be on top of your toes; you have to be on front foot to attack the ball there. Against individual mistakes, you can't do too much actually.

"Only thing that cannot happen is that everybody starts doubting now in his own qualities. Also, when you are one of the guys that made a mistake, just learn from it."

Verdict

Trabzonspor's recent wins against Galatasaray and Besiktas underline the scale of the task facing Hearts.

The hosts have scored at least three goals in three of their last four games and another high-scoring home win is expected.

Trabzonspor to win & over 2.5 goals is my best bet, while I also expect Hearts to bring up a BTTS pick.
