Atletico Mineiro travel to Uruguay with a commanding 3-0 advantage for the second leg of their Copa Sudamericana semi-final against Montevideo City. The Brazilians have shown strong recent form, while Montevideo City have struggled, losing four of their last six matches and managing just three goals in that period. Atletico remain unbeaten in their last eight games and are favorites to progress, with the article recommending 'Atletico Mineiro draw no bet' as the best pick for the match.

Montevideo City vs Atletico Mineiro Predictions

Montevideo City face Atletico Mineiro at the Estadio Centenario in the second leg of their Copa Sudamericana semi-final on Wednesday.

The Brazilians hold a commanding 3-0 advantage and will be confident of finishing the job against the out-of-form hosts.

Atletico Mineiro draw no bet is my preferred pick in Uruguay.

Atletico's Form Gives Them the Edge

  • Montevideo City lost 4 of their last 6 matches
  • Montevideo City scored an average of 0.5 goals per game in their last 7 matches
  • Atletico Mineiro won 6 of their last 8 matches
  • Atletico Mineiro scored an average of 2.0 goals per game in their last 8 matches

Montevideo and Mineiro Set For Second Encounter

Montevideo City and Atletico Mineiro will meet for the second time on Wednesday. Atletico eased to a 3-0 win in their first-ever encounter at the Arena MRV last week.

Torque Face an Uphill Task

Montevideo City return to the Centenario after a 2-1 setback at Albion in the Uruguayan Primera Division last Sunday.

Salomon Rodriguez put the visitors ahead before the interval, but Carlos Airala and Tobias Figueroa struck after the break to condemn Marcelo Mendez’s side to another defeat.

The Uruguyans have now lost four of their last six games, including last week's 3-0 reversal against Mineiro.

In a one-sided contest, Reinier and Bernard scored before the interval, before Thiago Borbas added a third in the second half.

The Brazilians were good value for their success. Atletico controlled possession (66%), outshot Torque 16-6 and registered an xG total of 2.12 compared to the visitors' 0.29.

A 1-0 victory against Danubio is their only win in seven games played in the past four weeks.

Goals have also been hard to come by for Marcelo Mendez's side. Torque scored just three times in their last six fixtures and now need at least three goals to keep the tie alive.

The hosts can take confidence from their Copa Libertadores quarter-final comeback against Cienciano. After losing 2-0 in Peru, they won the return leg 3-0 at the Centenario.

Atletico Maintain Winning Form

Atletico Mineiro travel to Uruguay after a 1-0 home victory against Coritiba in Serie A on Saturday.

Igor Gomes scored the only goal late as the in-form Brazilians claimed a deserved victory at Arena MRV.

Head coach Eduardo Dominguez made several changes to his first XI with Wednesday's return leg in mind, but Mineiro still created enough chances to secure a deserved victory.

Atletico controlled possession (58%) and had 22 shots to Coritiba's 13, with ten efforts on target to the visitors' three. Final xG totals of 1.34 and 0.67 also reflected the hosts' attacking superiority.

Saturday's victory extended Galo's unbeaten run to eight matches, with six victories picked up in that sequence. Over a longer period, the Brazilians have lost just two of their last 24 competitive fixtures since May.

Atletico Mineiro are looking to reach back-to-back Copa Sudamericana finals after finishing runners-up last season. Their last continental title came in the 2014 Recopa Sudamericana.

Montevideo City vs Atletico Mineiro Team News

Montevideo City: (4-3-3) Franco Torgnascioli; Eduardo Aguero, Kevin Silva, Gary Kagelmacher, Santiago Zampieri; Franco Pizzichillo, Pablo Siles, Gonzalo Montes; Esteban Obregon, Salomon Rodriguez, Luka Andrade.

Head coach Mendez has no new injury issues ahead of Wednesday's second-leg encounter.

Nahuel Leivas remains sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury.
Gonzalo Montes is pushing for a recall after a second-half substitute appearance last time out.

Salomon Rodriguez should continue to lead the attack after scoring against Albion last weekend.

Atletico Mineiro: (4-2-3-1) Gabriel Delfim; Alan Franco, Vitao, Lyanco, Renan Lodi; Kevin Castano, Maycon; Tomas Cuello, Victor Hugo, Bernard; Reinier.

MG boss Dominguez has a handful of injury issues ahead of the trip to Uruguay. Everson, Ruan Tressoldi, Gustavo Scarpa, Fred and Mateo Cassierra are likely to remain sidelined this week.

Lyanco, Lodi, Cuello and Bernard are in contention to earn recalls after missing out last weekend.

Experienced playmaker Bernard is expected to start in the number 10 role. The former Everton midfielder has scored five goals in 11 Copa Sudamericana appearances this season.

Verdict

Montevideo will need to go for broke, and that should leave gaps at the back for the more experienced Brazilians to exploit.

Atletico Mineiro draw no bet is my best bet.
