The upcoming Hearts vs Rangers clash at Tynecastle promises high drama as both sides battle for crucial points in the Premiership title race. Hearts, top of the table following a dramatic Edinburgh derby win, look to defend their unbeaten home record against a Rangers side eager to bounce back from defeat to Motherwell. Recent trends suggest an open game with both teams likely to score and over 2.5 goals expected. Key absences for both squads could influence team lineups, but the stakes and atmosphere guarantee an exciting contest.

Hearts vs Rangers Predictions

A huge Premiership encounter in Edinburgh should deliver plenty of drama and goalmouth action. I have a full stake on BTTS and over 2.5 goals at Tynecastle.

Goals on the Cards at Tynecastle

  • Hearts have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in their last 3 matches
  • Hearts have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 matches against Rangers
  • Rangers have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 matches (Premiership)

Rangers Dominate H2H Against Hearts

Hearts and Rangers have met on 23 occasions since 2020. Rangers won 15 of those matches while Hearts claimed only four victories. The Jambos picked up two of those wins this season.

Hearts Extend Premiership Advantage

Hearts moved a step closer to a historic Scottish Premiership title triumph with a dramatic 2-1 Edinburgh derby victory against Hibernian last week. Trailing to Martin Boyle's early goal, the Jambos fought back after two red cards reduced the hosts to nine men.

Second-half goals from Warren O'Hora (own goal) and Blair Spittal secured a priceless and well-deserved three points at Easter Road.

Derek McInnes's side peppered the Hibernian goal with 23 shots and a final xG of 1.62, reflecting their dominance against the nine men.

The Jambos now return to Tynecastle looking to protect the best home record in the division. Hearts remain unbeaten in 17 home Premiership fixtures this season (W13, D4).

With Rangers slipping up against Motherwell last weekend, McInnes's men now sit three points clear at the top of the division with just four games to play.

Rangers Stunned by Motherwell

Rangers arrive at Tynecastle looking to bounce back from a damaging 3-2 home defeat against Motherwell last weekend.

Trailing 2-0 at the break, the Gers fought back with goals from Youssef Chermiti and Nicolas Raskin, but Emmanuel Longelo's late strike - his second of the game - secured a shock ‘Well win at Ibrox.

The Gers proved wasteful in front of goal, registering an xG of 2.65 compared to a clinical Motherwell side, who scored three from an xG of just 0.76.

Danny Rohl's side had won four successive Premiership fixtures before Sunday's setback in Glasgow.  Down to third in the league standings, the Gers now trail Hearts by four points with just four games to play.

In possession of the best road record in the division, Rangers won eight and lost just one of 16 away Premiership games this season.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Hearts (3-4-2-1) Alexander Schwolow; Michael Steinwender, Craig Halkett, Stuart Findlay; Stephen Kingsley, Jordi Altena, Beni Baningime, Marc Leonard; Pierre Landry Kabore, Claudio Braga; Lawrence Shankland

Head coach McInnes is unable to call on several first-team players. Craig Gordon, Cammy Devlin, Calem Nieuwenhof, Tomas Magnusson, Oisin McEntee and Eduardo Ageu remain sidelined for the league leaders.

Ahead of a huge night, McInnes called on the Hearts supporters to play their part and help the team seize a major opportunity in their quest to claim a first Scottish league title since 1960.

"The motivation in these types of games has always been pretty clear," he said.

"Our record would suggest that we always feel we have been the underdog in any of these games when we play Rangers and Celtic. But we've always been an underdog with real belief in what we're doing. The results we've had have been a testament to that.

"We just want Tynecastle to be in its full glory, to be honest. We want it to be even better than it's been. To the supporters, bring your scarves, show your colours, give it laldy."

Rangers (4-2-3-1) Jack Butland; Dujon Sterling, Emmanuel Fernandez, Nasser Djiga, Jayden Meghoma; Nicolas Raskin, Mohamed Diomande; Djeidi Gassama, Thelo Aasgaard, Mikey Moore; Youssef Chermiti

Rangers boss Rohl has three injury worries ahead of the trip to Edinburgh. Tuur Rommens and Ryan Naderi are likely to remain sidelined, while John Souttar will be assessed after undergoing a scan for a “small issue” on Friday.

Rohl says his side is ready for Monday's massive showdown at Tynecastle.

"The atmosphere will be on fire," he said. "They fight for something, they play for a historical season, and they go all-in, but we will also be ready for this. We go there, and we'll be ready to fight."

"It will be, in some phases of the game, not the nicest one because there will be a lot of 50-50 duels and it is important that everyone on the pitch makes good decisions in both directions," he said.

Verdict

Both teams will be desperate to claim the points, and that should lead to an open and likely dramatic Premiership battle on Monday.

I have a full stake on BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored at Tynecastle.
