Liverpool will host Monaco at Anfield in a club friendly, with the Reds expected to assert their quality on home turf. Under new manager Andoni Iraola, Liverpool have shown promising form with wins in pre-season and key players like Alisson and Van Dijk returning. Monaco, on the other hand, have been inconsistent and face significant absences, such as Pogba. The consensus predicts a Liverpool win, given Monaco's patchy pre-season and the Reds' squad strength.

Liverpool vs Monaco Preview

Andoni Iraola will want Liverpool to put in a strong performance on his home debut at Anfield. The Reds have key players returning and are likely to have too much quality for Monaco here.

2 Wins in 3 for the Reds

  • Liverpool have won 2 of their last 3 games.
  • Monaco have lost 3 of their last 6 matches.

Liverpool and Monaco have won one match each in two meetings.

Liverpool Showing Promise Under Iraola

Liverpool have made a solid start under new manager Andoni Iraola in pre-season.

The Reds played three matches in the Premier League Summer Series and won twice. Those victories came consecutively against Sunderland 4-2 and Wrexham 1-0.

Iraola’s side couldn’t extend their pre-season winning streak and lost 4-2 against Leeds. Liverpool had 1.14 XG and goals from Luke Chambers and Florian Wirtz weren’t enough to prevent defeat.

Monaco Face Tough Anfield Test

Ligue 1 side Monaco are inconsistent and have won just three of their last 10 in all competitions.

The Red and Whites had a patchy pre-season. Monaco won their opening game 5-2 against Saint Priest before a 2-0 loss to Sporting and a 2-2 draw with Cercle Brugge.

Filipe Luís’s team replied with a 1-0 win against LaLiga side Getafe. Paris Brunner scored a second-half penalty to secure the victory.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Calum Scanlon, Ifeanyi Ndiaye, Virgil Van Dijk, Milos Kerkez; Trey Nyoni, Dominik Szoboszlai; Federico Chiesa, Florian Wirtz, Rio Ngumoha; Alexander Isak

Defender Jeremy Jacquet is an injury doubt following a recent shoulder issue.

Alexis MacAllister is unavailable. The midfielder has been granted an extended break after the World Cup.

Goalkeeper Alisson, defender Virgil van Dijk and attackers Victor Munoz and Cody Gakpo are available after missing the Premier League Summer Series.

Monaco (4-2-31): Lukas Hradecky; Vanderson, Sadibou Sane, Eric Dier, Nazinho; Lamine Camara, Pape Cabral; Matthis Abline, Aleksandr Golovin, Mathys Detourbet; Mika Bieret

Midfielder Paul Pogba missed Monaco’s last four games due to injury and is unlikely to feature against Liverpool.

Verdict

Liverpool have plenty of star quality available and Monaco are lacking pre-season form. A home victory is predicted in this Club Friendly at Anfield.
