Myanmar Maintain Qualification Hopes
Myanmar travel to Bangkok after a comprehensive 7-2 victory against Group B whipping boys Laos in Yangon.
Lwin Moe Aung scored after only 75 seconds before Win Naing Tun registered a hat-trick in a dominant win for Jorn Andersen’s side. Maung Maung Lwin, Than Paing and Hein Htet Aung were also on target as The Asian Lions bagged their biggest win in over 50 years.
Myanmar began their campaign with a 2-1 home defeat against Malaysia before bouncing back with a 4-1 win against the Philippines.
Ahead of their final Group B fixture, Andersen’s men are level with Malaysia on six points and will qualify with a victory. A draw would also secure qualification if Malaysia lose against the Philippines.

Thailand boss Hudson should return to the majority of the side that cruised to a five-goal victory against Laos.
The English boss is likely to recall several regular starters after making eight changes against the Philippines.
Yotsakorn Burapha and Teerasak Poeiphimai are expected to come back into the first XI after both were rested in New Clark City. Captain Sarach Yooyen and Patrik Gustavsson are also in contention to return to the starting side.
Hudson admitted that the wet conditions in the Philippines affected his side’s performance last time out.
“I just think the conditions of the pitch change everything,” Hudson said. “If we had that game at home, I think it’s different.
“Even on a very difficult pitch, there were certain parts where we had to tell the players not to play near the dugout and to play more on the left. It was quite an unusual situation.
“I think the conditions probably levelled it out, but I never felt that we were under any real danger. They had a couple of counterattacks, and I thought we played some good football at times. It was just the final third.”

Andersen believes Myanmar can play without pressure in Saturday’s decisive Group B contest.
“I told the players before today’s match that we had to win so that we could travel to Thailand without pressure,” he said. “The match against Thailand will now effectively be a group final.
“Should we win in Thailand, we can qualify for the next round. However, we are not under the same pressure as we would have been without tonight’s victory. Perhaps we can produce a surprise.
“We will prepare as well as possible, play without pressure and then see at the end which team has won.”
