New signing James Overy had a brilliant chance to win the game on debut after being put through on goal by Akol Akon, but he was thwarted by Wanderers' keeper Lawrence Thomas.

The Reds have made a winning start to the AFC Champions League 2, toppling Tai Po 3-1 and Pathum United 2-1 to top their group after two matches.

It was a successful season for Adelaide last term as they finished in second spot on the ladder, but ultimately they were condemned to another semi-final elimination.

The Reds also bombed out of the Australia Cup at the first hurdle to eventual champions South Melbourne.
