Durban City and AS Port-Louis meet for the CAF Confederations Cup second leg, following Durban City's 3-1 home win last weekend. Both teams have a history of high-scoring matches, with Durban City undefeated in continental action this season. Port Louis, after a sixth-place league finish but a domestic cup triumph, must overturn a two-goal deficit at home. The article concludes that both teams are likely to score in Mauritius, but Durban City is tipped to win the second leg and progress.

  • Both teams have a recent record of high-scoring matches with BTTS outcomes.
  • Durban City is tipped to win the second leg in Mauritius and progress.

Port Louis are struggling at the moment, so I am leaning towards Durban City to win and progress with BTTS on the cards.

Key Stats - Goals Expected

  • Port Louis have seen BTTS Yes in 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • Port Louis have lost 5 of their last 11 matches.
  • Durban City have won their last 3 matches in the CAF Confederations Cup.
  • Durban City have seen BTTS Yes in 4 of their last 5 matches.

Second Encounter

These clubs met for the first time last weekend.

Durban City won 3-1 at home in the first leg of this tie.

Port Louis Sixth Place League Finish Last Season

AS Port-Louis booked their place in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup by winning the Mauritian domestic cup competition. They finished sixth in the league with just 24 points in 18 matches.

They drew Jwaneng Galaxy in the first round of qualifying for this competition. A 1-1 home draw was followed by a fine 1-0 away win to progress.

Last weekend, they lost 3-1 vs Durban City in the first league. Port Louis pulled a goal back at 2-1 down but conceded a damaging last-minute third goal.

Durban City Solid in CAF

Durban City have tasted victory just once in 16 league matches. In continental action, they have won all three matches this season.

A 2-0 win away at Kruger United ended an 11-match winless PSL run.  A 0-0 home draw vs Stellenbosch was followed by two wins vs Rukinzo in the first CAF Confederations Cup qualifying round.

A 2-0 loss at Orlando Pirates preceded a 1-1 draw at Milford. After appointing Eric Tinkler, they lost 2-1 at home to AmaZulu before a 3-1 home win over Port Louis last Sunday in their CAF first leg.

Predicted Lineups & News

Port Louis:

Port Louis coach Etienne Liva Rasoanaivo will pick his best XI in Mauritius.

A 2-0 win would be enough to progress to the next round.

Durban City (4-3-3): Asare; Shandu, Ncanana, Mkhize, Doumbia; Jurgens, Sanger, Poggenpoel; Maseko, Lwamba, Domingo.

Malian left back Alou Doumbia made his first start for the club in the first leg. He could start in preference to John Mokone.

Haashim Domingo could keep his place in a wide role after scoring last week. Samkelo Maseko will hope for a recall in this one.

Verdict

I see both sides scoring in Mauritius as Durban City win the second leg.
