In a recent handball clash, Norway showcased their exceptional prowess by thoroughly overpowering Montenegro. The Norwegian team's depth, physicality, and operational efficiency have consistently given them an edge over competitors. Montenegro, who could muster only 18 goals in their previous match against Germany, were no match for the Norwegians. The outcome—favoring Norway—was a predictable double-digit victory. Analysts highlight Norway's superior strategy and resilience, making them a formidable team. For Montenegro, this match underscores the need for strategy reassessment in future competitions.

Norway vs Montenegro Match Preview

Montenegro failed to impress in their two biggest tests against Spain and Germany, and they have also lost the last five head-to-head meetings with Norway. A heavily one-sided quarterfinal looks likely, and the Scandinavian giants are well placed to cover a –12.5 handicap.

Norway Aiming for Gold

Norway remain one of the most dominant nations in women’s handball history, and in Germany they are pushing to upgrade the silver medal they won in 2023, when they fell 31-28 to France in the final.

Their preliminary round was flawless, producing three convincing wins over South Korea (34-19), Kazakhstan (41-16) and Angola (31-19). They carried that same momentum into the main round, dismantling Sweden 39-26, overpowering the Czech Republic 37-14, and crushing Brazil 33-14 in the battle for top spot.

Henny Ella Reistad has led the attack with 31 goals from 40 attempts, converting all six of her shots from the 6m line. Anniken Wollik sits close behind with 24 goals in six matches.

Montenegro Didn’t Offer Much in Key Battles

Montenegro’s best World Championship results to date are quarterfinal runs in 2015 and 2017, and given the opposition they face here, improving on that seems unlikely.

They opened this year’s tournament with wins over the Faroe Islands (32-27) and Paraguay (34-25) before losing to Spain 31-26.

A strong start to the main round saw them beat Iceland 36-27, but they were then swept aside by Germany 36-18. They sealed their place in the knockout phase with a comprehensive 33-17 victory over Serbia, with Dijana Trivic contributing 26 goals so far.

Verdict

Norway have crushed every opponent they’ve faced and their depth, physicality and efficiency give them a huge edge once again. Montenegro managed only 18 goals in their heavy defeat to Germany, so backing Norway to secure a comfortable, double-digit win is the logical call.
