United States Split First Two Outings

The United States enter this matchup looking to string together back-to-back wins for the first time in this year’s tournament.

The USA went all the way at the Worlds last year, edging Switzerland 1-0 in the final to clinch the trophy.

They then claimed Winter Olympics gold earlier this year, downing arch rivals Canada in the final, 3-2, but they did not get off to the best of starts here.

The United States opened with a rematch from last year’s final, and fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Switzerland.

The USA did not have to wait too long for their first win though, as they downed Great Britain 5-1 at the weekend.

Verdict

Finland are off to a solid start as they look to secure qualification to the knockouts as quickly as possible.

The United States, on the other hand, came up short in their first real test and do not boast the depth of roster that they fielded in the last two major tournaments, so give us the Finns here.
