Germany enter this matchup against the tournament hosts in desperate need of a victory.

The Germans came into the 2026 Worlds with their sights set on reaching the playoffs, but after two games they sit with a winless record.

They faced a tough challenge in their tournament opener as they took on one of the favourites, Finland, and it was no shock that they lost.

Germany then followed up that 3-1 defeat to the Finns with a 2-0 loss at the hands of Latvia over the weekend.

That has left the Germans as one of three teams in Group A that is yet to win a game.

Switzerland Boast Perfect 2-0 Record

Switzerland came into this tournament as a major threat to lift the trophy at the end of the championship, and they have so far lived up to that billing.

The Swiss reached the final in each of the last two World Championships, only to come up short, but they have made an early statement.

They began this competition with a rematch of last year’s final against the United States.

Switzerland took that matchup with the Americans, 3-1, and they were able to follow that up over the weekend.

The Swiss took on Hungary in their second outing of the tournament, and ran out 4-2 winners.
