That meant there were higher hopes for the team heading into the news season, but three weeks in they are yet to get off the mark.
Ottawa won back-to-back meetings with Montreal in pre-season, but when the action got serious they were beaten 29-21 at home by Edmonton.
Then, after an early bye week, the Redblacks fell to 0-2 as they suffered a 44-24 blowout loss to Toronto last weekend.
Montreal Alouettes Seek Response To 1st Defeat
Montreal enter this matchup looking to bounce back from a first defeat of the season, which dropped them to 2-1.
The Alouettes made it all the way to the Grey Cup last season, only to lose to Saskatchewan in the championship game, but they have made a promising start in their quest to go one better this time around.
They kicked off the campaign on the road and were able to down the Tiger-Cats in Hamilton in overtime, 30-27.
Montreal followed that up a week later in their home opener as they beat Toronto in regulation, 37-30.
The Alouettes failed to make it three wins in a row though, as their unbeaten start was finally ended by a 32-29 overtime defeat in Edmonton last time out.
Verdict
Davis Alexander’s perfect regular season record received its first blemish a week ago, but nobody in the Montreal camp is panicking.
