The Red Raiders opened with three consecutive non-oonference wins, and then took their streak to six games by winning their first three Big 12 outings.

They beat Utah 34-10 and Houston 35-11 on the road, before returning home for a 42-17 success against Kansas.

Texas Tech’s perfect start was ended by a 26-22 defeat at Arizona State, but they responded in emphatic fashion as they shut out Oklahoma State in a 42-0 victory.

The Red Raiders have backed that up by beating Kansas State 43-20 on the road, and both BYU and UCF at home, 29-7 and 48-9 respectively.

West Virginia come into this game on the back of a loss that ended their best ‘run’ of the season and dropped them to 4-7.

The Mountaineers opened the season by winning two of their three non-conference games, but their form collapsed once they kicked off their Big 12 slate.

They lost 41-10 in Kansas and 48-14 at home to Utah, before heading out on the road to lose 38-24 at BYU and 45-13 at UCF.

West Virginia’s losing skid then reached five games with a 23-17 loss to TCU, before they finally stopped the rot with a 45-35 upset of Houston on the road.

The Mountaineers backed that up with a 29-22 loss to Colorado, only to then lose 25-23 at Arizona State last time out.

Aside from that loss to Arizona State, Texas Tech have been on a roll all season.
