Match Preview
Bahcesehir are looking great under new coach Aleksandar Sasa Djordjevic, hoping to become serious title contenders in Turkey this season and play an important role in the EuroCup. Can they take down EuroLeague participants Besiktas?
Bahcesehir Making a Strong Start
Bahcesehir are enjoying a very strong start to the new basketball season, claiming seven victories in their eight appearances across competitions so far.
Their record is impeccable in the Turkish Super Lig, where they are the only team to win all four of their opening games. They outplayed Fenerbahce 98-83, Cayirova 84-76, Karsiyaka 92-82 and, most recently, Bursaspor 90-80.
After also securing three wins in three EuroCup rounds against BC Roma, Balkan and Manresa, their incredible run came to an end earlier this week with an 86-77 defeat to KK Bosna in Sarajevo. Poor three-point shooting (6/24) was the main reason behind the loss. Mateusz Ponitka was the standout performer with 20 points.
Besiktas Feeling the Strain of a Busy Schedule
This is the first time Besiktas are competing in both the EuroLeague and the Super Lig, which has taken a toll on their consistency, forced multiple rotations and cost them a couple of games.
The Black Eagles enjoyed a solid run in the second half of October, claiming their first EuroLeague home victory against Bayern 95-87 before also edging out Galatasaray 83-80 at home in the Super Lig.
Dusan Alimpijevic's side couldn't make it three wins in a row earlier this week, losing the Turkish derby against Anadolu Efes 89-80 in the EuroLeague. They missed plenty of open shots from beyond the arc (7/26). Eugene Omoruyi delivered a great performance despite the defeat, scoring 16 points on 8/10 FG shooting.
