Match Preview
AEK Athens are going through a rough period, having suffered a heavy loss to Antwerp in the FIBA Champions League while also struggling in their first domestic away game against Aris. Can they pull off an upset in Thessaloniki on Saturday?
PAOK Not Playing as Good as Results Might Suggest
PAOK are off to a perfect start in the new Greek Basket League season, claiming three victories in the opening three rounds and currently sharing the top of the table with Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.
The Double-Headed Eagles edged out Mykonos 88-85 in their opening game and beat Lefkadas 86-73 at home. In their most recent appearance, Andrea Trinchieri's side ground out an 88-84 road victory against Kolossos Rhodes.
PAOK are coming off an 87-78 home victory against Ulm in the EuroCup during midweek action, which was a great response to last week's 95-86 loss to Lietkabelis. Cedi Osman was named man of the match against the German side, scoring 21 points.
AEK Athens Searching for a Response
AEK Athens began their Basket League campaign with a 91-70 victory over Maroussi, with Nelly Joseph playing a key role by scoring 18 points on 8/11 shooting and adding six rebounds. However, they were then demolished 88-58 by Aris in Thessaloniki in the second round.
The Double-Headed Eagles returned to winning ways last weekend with a narrow 84-79 home victory against Mykonos. They struggled on the boards, losing the rebounding battle 23-30, but converted 55% of their field-goal attempts.
AEK Athens were labeled big favorites in their midweek FIBA Champions League clash against Antwerp at home but suffered a heavy 103-76 defeat, scoring just 26 points in the second half. Rebounding was a problem once again, as they lost that battle 31-41.

Verdict
PAOK don't look particularly motivated in the Basket League, with Trinchieri usually resting key players such as Cedi Osman. I expect some sort of reaction from AEK after a couple of unexpected losses, so an away win with a +10.5 handicap is my pick.
