Canada Struggles against Tier One
Canada enjoyed a successful campaign in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Americas Region qualifiers, beating Bermuda by six wickets in the final. They lost both of their World Cup warm-up matches, first to Italy (10 runs) and then Nepal (six wickets).

Jaskaran Singh took 4/10 for the Kings against the Sixers in the Canada Super 60, followed by 1/38 (vs Italy) and 1/17 (vs Nepal) in Canada’s two World Cup warm-up matches. Saad Bin Zafar has been bowling economically, as well as scoring 35, 29 and 30 in his last three knocks. Dilon Heyliger took 4/9 for BBZ against the Tigers in the Canada Super 60.

South African skipper Aiden Markram was upbeat about his side’s chances in the 2026 T20 World Cup. "Every captain sitting here and the previous captains that were in here before us, they all want to lift the trophy. You have to earn that right in your group stage first, and then continuously play good cricket. It's a competition where any team can beat any team. One or two special performances from individuals can break the game open. We've got some changes in personnel as well. We don't have India in the group stage now, and hopefully, at some stage, we can get to a position in the competition where we can," said Markram.
Canada captain Dilpreet Bajwa was proud to be leading his country in the ultimate form of T20 cricket. "Most of our players are from India. As you mentioned, the conditions are pretty tough in Canada but, thanks to our board, we had a pre-tour in Sri Lanka, and we prepared well. We had a couple of games where we checked our combinations and, as captain, I feel we are well-prepared,” said Bajwa.
