JD Gaming vs Top Esports Predictions

JD Gaming and Top Esports are set to face off on Thursday, February 5, in the fourth and final week of League of Legends Pro League (LPL) 2026 Split 1, marking a rematch from the opening week, when JDG won.

JD Gaming defeated TES in their first meeting, and the rematch is expected to end the same way. While that makes some sense considering JD Gaming's record, Top Esports have been playing better than what their futures suggest.

The major issue with Top Esports is their lack of consistency and stability. They've thrown away winnable games too many times. And while that is concerning, seeing Top Esports put themselves in advantageous positions indicates some level of quality.

  • Top Esports seem unstable
  • JD Gaming are strong, but not perfect
  • Top Esports have the quality to challenge JDG

JD Gaming Lead the Head-to-Head

JD Gaming and Top Esports last met on the opening day of LPL 2026 Split 1, when JD Gaming won in two maps.

JD Gaming Have Some Wrinkles to Iron Out

JD Gaming are 5-4, which guarantees them a top-four finish in Group Ascend and a direct invite to the knockout stage. This also means JD Gaming have nothing less to fight for, which raises concerns about their motivation.

Regardless, JD Gaming have been playing well this split, but with some caveats. They've been struggling to gain sizeable gold leads in the mid-late game, and while JDG will get ahead early, they rarely boom that lead into something bigger.

Moreover, their closing rate is not particularly strong, as evidenced by their recent 2-1 victory over Invictus Gaming.

On the first map, IG opted for a strong early-game composition, which shut down JDG, who found themselves in too big a hole to escape from.

The second map could've gone in Invictus Gaming's favour, but they produced a few misplays and essentially gifted JD Gaming the win. Meanwhile, the final map was very competitive, but JD Gaming had a better composition.

Overall, not a great showing from JD Gaming, but they got over the finish line.

  • Yu "JunJia" Chun-chia– jungle
  • Tsai "hongQ" Ming-hong – mid lane

Top Esports Have the Tools to Bounce Back

Top Esports enter their final match of the regular season with three losses and two wins. In their last outing, Top Esports had to admit defeat to Anyone's Legend in two maps.

The first map was somewhat competitive, while the second saw a very dominant showing from AL, who appeared more stable.

Despite the loss, TES have been showing some signs of life. They've looked solid in their losses and arguably should've won more games, but they bungled many situations. Stability is an issue, even though the quality is there.

Verdict

On paper, this seems like an easy game for JD Gaming, and the latest esports odds reflect it. However, despite going 5-3, JD Gaming have had their iffy moments, and it got lucky to win its last game against Invictus Gaming.

At the same time, you could make a case that Top Esports have been unlucky in some of their recent losses. Some of it has to do with the fact that TES are prone to choking and throwing away leads.

And while that's a concerning trend, TES have proven they have the tools to challenge anyone. As soon as they find more stability, Top Esports will become a serious threat for the title.

While this is JD Gaming's game to lose, Top Esports are more than capable of taking a map.
