LYON are viewed as favourites to defeat their southern neighbours, having shown strong form in the LoL Championship Series (LCS).
The main argument for LYON is that they hail from a stronger region; however, it is worth noting that FURIA were by far the best team from the Brazilian league, which is an accomplishment in itself.
This will be a proper test for both teams, but it is easy to have more faith in LYON, who are more experienced and more battle-tested than FURIA.
- Both teams dominated their regional leagues
- LYON hail from a stronger region
- A competitive game is not entirely unlikely

LYON With High Expectations
LYON’s roster rebuild ahead of the 2026 season has already netted them results, with LYON picking up both LCS Lock-In and Spring titles. They were not as successful in the First Stand, however, crashing out of Group B with defeats to Gen.G and JD Gaming.
Despite the poor showing in the first international event of the season, LYON deserve some slack, as they only struggled against two elite teams.
While they will have to overcome top-tier squads if LYON wish to contest the MSI trophy, their journey will begin with a fairly easy opponent in FURIA, who on paper should not be a major threat.
LYON do lack in some areas and do not have the players to match elite teams in all roles but jungle. But compared to FURIA, they should be viewed as firm favourites.

FURIA Can Bite
FURIA are the no.1 seed from Brazil, having won Circuit Brazilian League of Legends Split 1 without many issues. After a 5-2 run in the group stage, FURIA stepped up in the playoffs, where they bested LOUD (3-0), RED Canids (3-0), and LOS (3-1) to hoist the trophy.
Their title run was hardly a surprise, as FURIA already had a strong start to the season, with a bronze medal from the CBLOL Cup.
To that, they added a trophy from the 2026 Americas Cup, which is a good indication that FURIA can match LCS teams. The issue here is that LYON are better than Cloud9 and Sentinels, whom FURIA defeated during the Americas Cup.
On paper, FURIA are dangerous, but they are also set to face their toughest opponent of the season.

- Pedro "Tatu" Seixas – jungle
- Arthur "Tutsz" Machado – mid lane

Verdict
FURIA are viewed as heavy underdogs for this match, which makes sense as they hail from a weaker region than LYON. Moreover, there are questions of how will FURIA deal with LYON’s jungler Inspired, who can solo win games if he is not stopped.
LYON are not a perfect team and will make mistakes, so a 3-0 sweep seems unlikely. On the other side, FURIA appear like they don’t have strong enough solo lanes to really push LYON.
A 3-1 victory for LYON is likely.
