Scheduled to kick off on Thursday, July 2, the VALORANT Esports World Cup 2026 is the third international event of the year, succeeding Masters Santiago and Masters London.
While not a part of the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) season, the event will feature 16 of the world’s best VCT teams, who will vie for the lion’s share of the US$2,000,000 prize pool and the coveted trophy.
In attendance are teams from Europe, North and South America, the Pacific, and China, who’ve fought their way through regional qualifiers and will now have a chance to prove themselves on the big stage.
Welcoming the likes of Paper Rex, G2 Esports, Team Vitality, NRG, Team Heretics, and other heavyweights, the VALORANT Esports World Cup promises to be a highly competitive tournament with unforgettable moments and many betting opportunities to explore.
However, even in this stacked field, all prominent bookmakers point towards Paper Rex as the team to beat, so while we approach one of the biggest events of the year, the main question is: Will Paper Rex live up to the expectations, or will EWC end with an underdog making a miracle run?
Here is our preview of the VALORANT Esports World Cup 2026, with schedule, format, list of favourites, and the top-rated bookmakers with outright betting markets.

VALORANT Esports World Cup 2026 Favourites
VALORANT Esports World Cup will welcome 16 VALORANT teams, including most of the world’s strongest squads. There is one notable absence in the recently crowned Masters London champions, Leviatan, who did not make it through the qualifiers.
Besides Leviatan, all other heavyweights are here, including Paper Rex, who are billed as the team to beat.
The reigning VCT Pacific champions are fresh off a very promising performance at Masters London, where they placed second.
It was a bittersweet finish to the tournament and Paper Rex’s second Masters silver medal of 2026. Nevertheless, with that run, Paper Rex have now won one gold medal from VCT Pacific Stage 1, two silver medals from Masters events, and they managed a third-place finish in the Pacific Kickoff event.
Those results alone are a good enough indication of Paper Rex’s quality. And considering that also makes them the most accomplished team in attendance at the EWC, it is easy to see why Paper Rex are viewed as the team to beat.
There are three other notable teams who can make a run for the trophy, including G2 Esports.
Despite their subpar placement in Masters London, G2 Esports remain one of the most experienced and accomplished rosters in the scene. They are the VCT Americas champions, who’ve also placed fourth in the Masters Santiago and second in the Kickoff event.
While their quarterfinal finish in the Masters London has left a lot to be desired, G2 Esports have experience and raw talent on their side as they take on their next challenge in France.
Team Vitality join a short list of top contenders as they look to impress in front of their home crowd in Paris. Like G2, they failed to make a run for the trophy in London. But their fourth-place finish, which combined with a silver medal from VCT EMEA Stage 1, are two very good signs that Vitality are in good shape and ready to take on anyone.
NRG, much like Vitality and G2 Esports, have a lot more to prove. However, it is hard to ignore their incredible ceiling.
Besides the shockingly poor performance in Masters London (ninth-10th), NRG have been the most consistent team of the season, with bronze medals from Americas Kickoff and Stage 1, and from Masters Santiago.
While it remains to be seen whether NRG will reach their full potential at the Esports World Cup, they have already proven they have enough to have faith in them and their chances of making a deep run.
