Despite their subpar placement in Masters London, G2 Esports remain one of the most experienced and accomplished rosters in the scene. They are the VCT Americas champions, who’ve also placed fourth in the Masters Santiago and second in the Kickoff event.
While their quarterfinal finish in the Masters London has left a lot to be desired, G2 Esports have experience and raw talent on their side as they take on their next challenge in France.
Team Vitality join a short list of top contenders as they look to impress in front of their home crowd in Paris. Like G2, they failed to make a run for the trophy in London. But their fourth-place finish, which combined with a silver medal from VCT EMEA Stage 1, are two very good signs that Vitality are in good shape and ready to take on anyone.
NRG, much like Vitality and G2 Esports, have a lot more to prove. However, it is hard to ignore their incredible ceiling.
Besides the shockingly poor performance in Masters London (ninth-10th), NRG have been the most consistent team of the season, with bronze medals from Americas Kickoff and Stage 1, and from Masters Santiago.
While it remains to be seen whether NRG will reach their full potential at the Esports World Cup, they have already proven they have enough to have faith in them and their chances of making a deep run.
