Jeonbuk Hyundai host Gangwon FC as K League 1 action resumes after a lengthy break. Both teams boast excellent recent defensive records, having conceded just one goal each over their past five matches. Jeonbuk hold a historic head-to-head advantage and remain unbeaten in their last six against Gangwon. However, Gangwon’s sturdy defence has been especially impressive on the road. With both lineups showing defensive discipline and recent results indicating few goals, a draw with under 2.5 goals is the favored prediction.

Jeonbuk vs Gangwon FC Predictions

A tight contest is expected as KL1 action returns after a nearly two-month hiatus.

I have my stake on under 2.5 goals, with the spoils likely to be shared at Jeonju World Cup Stadium.

Jeonbuk Backed at Home

  • Jeonbuk have seen under 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 matches
  • Jeonbuk conceded 1 goal in their last 5 matches
  • Jeonbuk have seen under 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 matches against Gangwon
  • Gangwon have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 5 matches
  • Gangwon conceded 1 goal in their last 5 matches

Jeonbuk Hold H2H Advantage

Jeonbuk Hyundai and Gangwon FC have met on 42 previous occasions. Jeonbuk won 24 of those games, while Gangwon secured 12 wins.

Saturday’s hosts have enjoyed the better of recent meetings, picking up three wins while remaining unbeaten in their last six encounters.

Jeonbuk Strong in Jeonju

Jeonbuk Hyundai return to KL1 action in a confident mood after a decent first half of the K League 1 season.

Ohkyun Gong’s side enjoyed a particularly solid run before the World Cup break, securing four wins while remaining unbeaten in their last six KL1 fixtures.

Ahead of their first competitive fixture since mid-May, the hosts sit second in the table with 26 points collected from 15 games played. The KL1 champions find themselves six points behind pacesetters FC Seoul.

The Green Warriors have been strong at Jeonju World Cup Stadium. Gong’s side won five of their first seven home league matches, scoring 15 goals in the process.

After a slow start to the season, Jeonbuk have steadily improved while tightening up defensively. The hosts conceded only seven goals in their last 13 games and just one in their five most recent fixtures.

Gangwon Solid on the Road

Gangwon FC make the trip to Jeonju, sitting fourth in K League 1 after a solid run of form before the World Cup shutdown.

Jung Kyung-Ho’s side won six and lost just one of their last ten games between April and May.

Unbeaten in their five most recent fixtures, the Bears have collected 24 points from 15 matches, leaving them only two points behind Saturday’s opponents.

Strong at the back, Gangwon have been one of the toughest sides to break down this season. The Bears conceded just ten goals in 15 league matches, giving them the best defensive record in the division.

Particularly solid on their travels, Gangwon conceded just goals in seven road fixtures this season, while they have kept clean sheets in each of their last four away matches.

Jeonbuk: (4-2-3-1) Song Bum-keun; Kim Tae-hyun, Kim Young-bin, Kim Ha-jun, Choi Woo-jin; Oberdan, Kim Jin-gyu; Lee Dong-jun, Kang Sang-yun, Lee Seung-woo; Tiago Orobo

Jeonbuk boss Gong has three expected absentees this weekend. Andrea Compagno, Tae-hwan Kim and Ju-yeong Park are tipped to remain sidelined with various injury issues.

Brazilian forward Bruno Mota has departed the club and will not feature. Compatriot Tiago Orobo is likely to lead the home attack instead.

Gangwon FC: (4-2-3-1) Park Chung-hyo; Kang Joon-hyuck, Marko Tuci, Lee Gi-hyuk, Song Jun-seok; Mo Jae-hyeon, Lee You-hyeon; Kim Dong-hyun, Kim Dae-won, Choi Byeong-chan; Goh Young-joon

Head coach Kyung-Ho has no reported injury issues this weekend. Israeli forward
Abdallah Khalaihal could come into the side after scoring four goals in his last six substitute appearances.

Verdict

After a two-month layoff, a likely tight affair between two defensively disciplined sides is expected this weekend.

I have my stake on under 2.5 goals scored, while I also fancy a draw at Jeonju World Cup Stadium.
