Boro went unbeaten in their final four games, drawing two and losing two. They held Ipswich to a 2-2 away draw before beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 and Watford 5-1 at home.

The Teesside outfit played out another 2-2 draw at Wrexham on the final day of the season and had 2.13 XG. Tommy Conway scored after four minutes and Boro conceded twice before David Strelec equalised.

Southampton Know How to Score

Tonda Eckert’s Southampton were the most in-form team late in the 2025/26 Championship campaign. The Saints went unbeaten in 19 consecutive matches and scored 43 goals.

The south coast team were the second-highest scorers in the division after 46 games, netting 80 goals.

Eckert’s side climbed into the play-offs following an eight-match winning streak. That run ended with back-to-back 2-2 draws against Bristol City and Ipswich.

Southampton recovered and comfortably beat Preston 3-1 away in their last match of the season. Taylor Harwood Bellis, Ross Stewart and Cyle Larin scored and the Saints dominated with 2.41 XG.
