Tigres and Club Leon meet at Estadio Universitario for a key Liga MX match. Both sides have struggled to keep clean sheets, showing strong attacking records but defensive vulnerabilities. Recent encounters have seen goals from each side, and Leon, despite recent struggles, continue to score regularly, particularly on the road. With key players missing for both teams, the article concludes that 'both teams to score' is the best value prediction for this fixture.

Tigres vs Club Leon Predictions

Tigres and Club Leon lock horns at Estadio Universitario in a midweek Liga MX matchup.

Both teams have been in decent form, but clean sheets have been hard to come by.

While Tigres are favourites, BTTS looks like the better value choice.

Goals Expected in Liga MX Clash

  • Tigres have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 5 home matches (Liga MX)
  • Tigres conceded 1+ goals in 10 of their last 13 matches (Liga MX)
  • Club Leon have seen BTTS in their last 5 away matches (Liga MX)
  • Club Leon scored 1+ goals in 15 of their last 16 matches

Tigres Hold the Edge Since 2020

Tigres and Club Leon have met 16 times in competitive action since 2020. Tigres won seven of those encounters while Leon claimed five victories. Four matches finished level.

Tigres secured a 2-1 win in their most recent meeting in January.

Tigres Extend Unbeaten Run

Tigres return to Estadio Universitario after a 1-1 Liga MX draw at Guadalajara on Saturday.

Juan Brunetta put the visitors ahead but was sent off shortly before the interval. Tigres held their lead for much of the second half before substitute Jordan Carrillo grabbed a deserved leveller for the home side.

Match stats reflected the sustained pressure Tigres were forced to withstand. Guadalajara controlled possession (69%), outshot the visitors 30-7 and registered an xG of 1.61 compared to Tigres' 0.42.

Now unbeaten in their last three games, a solid run of form has seen Victor Vucetich's side lose just one of their last eight matches, but four draws in that period has hindered their progress.

Los Auriazules now sit 13th in the Clausura.

Tigres won their last two home games against Puebla (1-0) and Toluca (3-2). They remain unbeaten in five home league matches this season (W3, D2).

Defensive issues remain a concern, though. Vucetich's men leaked 16 goals in 12 league games this season.

Leon Slump in Eight-Goal Thriller

Club Leon travel to Monterrey after a remarkable 5-3 home defeat against America on Saturday.

Trailing 2-0 at the break, second-half goals from Jose Alvarado, Ivan Moreno and Ismael Diaz proved consolation only as Javier Gandolfi's side struggled to deal with a strong America attack.

Final match stats reflected a competitive but fruitless contest for the home side. Leon had more possession (55%), but America outshot the hosts 15-13 and recorded a higher xG of 2.45 compared to 1.65.

The Green Bellies had enjoyed a five-game unbeaten run before last weekend's eight-goal thriller at Estadio Leon.

Gandolfi's men have been less impressive on their travels, failing to win any of their last four away fixtures. Despite a lack of victories, Leon did score in all five road trips and in each of their last ten Liga MX matches.

Twelve games into the Apertura, Leon sit 7th in the division, four points ahead of Tigres.

Tigres vs Club Leon Team News

Tigres: (4-2-3-1) Nahuel Guzman; Alan Franco, Joaquim, Rafael Guerrero, Mauro Lainez; Cesar Araujo, Fernando Gorriaran; Diego Sanchez, Diego Lainez, Ozziel Herrera; Rodrigo Aguirre.

Tigres boss Vucetich will be forced into at least one change to his first XI this week. Top scorer Jean Brunetta is suspended following his dismissal against Guadalajara.

Francisco Reyes, Jesus Angulo, Marco Farfan and Marcelo Flores are expected to remain sidelined with various injury issues.

Romulo could return to the squad after a thigh issue.

Club Leon: (4-1-4-1) Oscar Garcia; Ivan Moreno, Jhohan Romana, Juan Guevara, Salvador Reyes; Jose Ivan Rodriguez; Ismael Diaz, Rodrigo Echeverria, Jordi Cortizo, Daniel Arcila; Diber Cambindo.

Leon boss Gandolfi has a few players unavailable for the trip to Monterrey. Valentin Gauthier remains sidelined following ankle surgery, while Angel Estrada and Luis Valadez are also expected to remain unavailable.

Jordi Cortizo is back in contention after serving a suspension against America.

Ismael Diaz and Jose Alvarado are pushing for recalls after both made goalscoring substitute appearances last weekend.

Verdict

Leon have been a reliable choice for goals on their travels this season, and I expect a similar outcome in Tuesday's Liga MX contest.

I have my stake on both teams to score at Estadio Universitario (UANL).
