Arizona State go into this matchup looking to win back-to-back games for the first time this season, having improved to 4-3 last weekend.
The Sun Devils opened with a 70-7 demolition of Morgan State, only to then collapse in the second half as they fell 48-20 at Texas A&M.
They rebounded a week later to beat Kansas 24-17 in London, but they again failed to follow up a victory as they were blown out at home by Baylor, 55-19.
Arizona State responded with a 30-12 win over Hawaii, but consistency again eluded them as they were beaten 53-25 at Texas Tech.
The Sun Devils bounced back at the first attempt though, downing Kansas State 28-17 last time out.
BYU Aim To Rebound From First Loss
BYU come into this matchup on the back of their first defeat of the season, which dropped them to 6-1.
The Cougars opened with a 63-7 blowout of Utah Tech in a non-conference matchup, and backed that up in their Big 12 opener as they beat Arizona 28-17.
They then went out on the road to beat Colorado State 41-23 in a non-conference game, and TCU 17-10 in a Big 12 matchup.
BYU’s perfect start continued with a 24-10 win against Iowa State, and it reached six games in stunning fashion as they took down Notre Dame at home, 28-24.
The Cougars had a letdown a week later though, as they fell to a surprise 39-31 loss at UCF.
Verdict
BYU will be embarrassed that they failed to follow up that big win over Notre Dame, losing to UCF last time out.
Nobody in the Cougars camp is pressing the panic button – even if they do need a win here – and we expect them to issue an immediate response at the Sun Devils’ expense.
