DC head to Columbus looking to rebound from the season-opening defeat at St Louis.

The Defenders began their defence of the UFL crown in the same stadium where they won it, but this time they left the Dome disappointed.

They did open up a 10-3 lead before the end of the first quarter- but they did not score another single point the rest of the way.

DC gave up 13 unanswered points to the Battlehawks, resulting in a 16-10 defeat that has left then 0-1 as they head out on the road for the second week in a row.

Columbus Aviators Beaten In UFL Debut

Columbus go into their first ever home game still seeking a maiden win in the United Football League.

The Aviators – introduced to the league in the offseason – were paired with another UFL-newcomer for their season-opener, the Orlando Storm.

They responded to an early 6-0 deficit to level it up before the end of the first quarter, only to then go cold over the next two periods and allow Orlando to open up a 14-point lead.

Columbus attempted to rally in the fourth quarter, but their only touchdown of the game proved to be a consolation score as they fell 23-16.

Verdict

DC failed to get much going last weekend, but the defense was solid and kicker McGrane showed his threat with four-point kicks.

The Defenders are backed to show improvement all around this week as they ruin Columbus’ home debut.
