China ended Week 2 with a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to Turkey after leading 2-1 in sets. They then opened Week 3 with another five-set loss, this time against underdogs Canada, but responded on Thursday with a convincing 3-0 victory over Ukraine to move into the playoff places with a 6-4 record.
Dominican Republic Fighting to Avoid Relegation
The Dominican Republic are out of contention for a Nations League 2026 playoff spot after collecting just two victories from ten matches, but they still have plenty to play for as they look to avoid relegation, with bottom-placed Bulgaria sitting close behind.
Week 2 proved difficult, with defeats to the United States (3-0), Serbia (3-0) and the Czech Republic (3-2), although they did produce one of the biggest surprises of the season by defeating Japan 3-1.
The Dominicans opened Week 3 by recovering from a two-set deficit against Belgium before narrowly losing in a deciding set. On Friday morning, they had better fortune, edging Ukraine in another five-set battle.

Dominican Republic are capable of making this affair tricky for China after forcing five sets in their last two outings against Belgium and Ukraine. The Asian side struggled throughout Week 2, and I don’t view them as massive favorites here.
