Serbia are one of the most pleasant surprise packages in the new Volleyball Nations League 2026 campaign, claiming three victories in their opening five rounds despite facing some tough opponents.
They were tagged underdogs in both of their first two matches against Argentina and Belgium, but both encounters ended in their favor 3-1, before suffering a 3-0 defeat against table leaders Brazil.
Serbia bounced back in the fourth round by defeating silver medalists from the recent World Championship 2025, Bulgaria, in straight sets, but opened Week 2 with a somewhat expected 3-1 loss to unbeaten Japan.
Cuba Searching for Their First Victory
Even though we are still in the relatively early stages of the Nations League 2026 campaign, Cuba’s chances of reaching the playoffs have already been reduced significantly, sitting bottom of the table with zero wins and six defeats.
Week 1 offered little encouragement as they suffered defeats against Poland 3-0, Ukraine 3-0, Slovenia 3-2 and China 3-0, with only the clash against Slovenia turning into a real battle.

Verdict
Serbia are missing a couple of players for this clash, but I still don’t agree with them being labeled underdogs against a Cuba side sitting bottom and still searching for their first win. Back the Balkan side to get the job done here.
