Match Preview
The ABA League Finals remain wide open after Partizan kept their title hopes alive with a convincing victory in Game 3. Dubai still hold the advantage, but the pressure is now on them to respond in a hostile atmosphere in Belgrade.
Partizan Back in the Series
Partizan looked very convincing throughout the ABA League playoffs, producing two strong performances against KK Bosna in the quarterfinals (2-0) before eliminating eternal rivals Crvena Zvezda in just two games in the semifinals.
The Black and Whites were competitive in Game 1 against Dubai but struggled to contain their opponent’s offensive efficiency, losing 99-93. Sterling Brown led the scoring with 20 points. Game 2 followed a similar pattern, ending 86-81, with Bruno Fernando finishing as their top performer with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Joan Penarroya’s side stayed alive in the finals thanks to an 84-70 home victory in Game 3. They established control early, dominated defensively and never allowed Dubai to find any rhythm on offense. Fernando was named man of the match with 15 points and eight rebounds, converting all six of his two-point attempts.
Dubai Aiming for First Trophy in Club’s History
Dubai had a slightly tougher road to the ABA League Finals than Partizan. They cruised past Spartak Subotica 2-0 in the quarterfinals but needed three games to eliminate Montenegrin champions Buducnost Podgorica in the semifinals.
Dzanan Musa inspired a 99-93 Game 1 victory against Partizan by scoring 22 points, while Dubai maintained excellent shooting percentages, converting 31 of 45 two-point attempts. Game 2 was another closely contested battle, but they edged it 86-81, with Musa once again leading the scoring with 16 points.
Dubai's shooting completely deserted them earlier this week in Belgrade. They converted just 19 of 57 field-goal attempts and never looked comfortable offensively in an 84-70 defeat. Davis Bertans was their top scorer with 17 points.
Verdict
Home-court advantage has played a huge role whenever these teams have met this season. Partizan looked much sharper in Game 3, particularly on the defensive end, and I expect them to build on that performance and level the series in Belgrade.
