On paper, this is a clash between two very stacked rosters with world-class players with the talent and experience to succeed on the big stage. That’s true, but there’s more to these teams as units than that.

Hanwha Life Esports have had their bumps in the road this season, but remain considered one of the best teams in the world. Top Esports have had a much more turbulent season, both on and off the Rift, and are dealing with visa issues ahead of LoL Worlds, which only adds salt to the wound.

Top Esports could be one of the world’s best teams. But they’re unreliable and have not had much time to prepare for the tournament.

Hanwha Life Esports Look Solid With Small Wrinkles

Hanwha Life Esports can easily be viewed as one of the strongest teams of the tournament, and for all the right reasons. This is an incredibly stacked roster that dominated parts of the LCK season. But it hasn’t all been sunshine and rainbows for HLE, who have also produced a few too many stinkers.

Consistency is still not quite there, as HLE still continue to make errors in the mid-to-late game, which will and should be punished by stronger teams. More often than not, those mistakes come from HLE’s overconfidence.

For some, this is the best team in the world. But as long as Hanwha Life Esports continue to slip in key moments and make questionable plays, they should carry around a pinch of doubt.

Top Esports Have Issues

Top Esports have had many roster issues this season, and even for the LoL Worlds, they’ve been dealing with visa issues. This has disrupted their preparation for the tournament, which is anything but optimal.

Even during the season, Top Esports have struggled, which, in their defence, was due to the roster problems and the top lane situation. While they have had moments when Top Esports looked like the best Chinese team, there were also plenty of opposite moments.

This roster has plenty of talent and experience. But they’ve yet to figure out how to take full advantage of their strengths.

Verdict

Hanwha Life Esports v Top Esports

On paper, both teams look incredibly strong, with experienced and highly stacked rosters. Both have also become known to shoot themselves in the foot, but that issue has been far more prominent with Top Esports.

Hanwha Life Esports can have their silly moments, and they like to get overconfident and misplay. But even then, HLE have often figured out a way to fight back.

Top Esports have reputation as chokers on international events. And with the added roster issues they’re dealing with, it is easy to side with Hanwha Life to handle the business.
