Gen.G and Invictus Gaming will face off in the opening round of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship. Gen.G are considered the strongest team from the LCK and enter with high expectations after winning the summer split. Invictus Gaming, though underrated, bring substantial experience and versatility, featuring two former world champions and a star support. While Gen.G are favored due to their roster and recent performances, Invictus Gaming’s lineup could deliver an unexpected challenge. The match is likely to be closer than many anticipate, especially with both teams fielding their best rosters.

Gen.G vs Invictus Gaming Betting Predictions

Gen.G and Invictus Gaming will face off on Friday, October 23, in the opening round of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship, in what should be an interesting game.

Gen.G enter LoL Worlds as one of the strongest teams in the scene, with high expectations. Invictus Gaming are quite the opposite, as most of the market is low on them, but perhaps too low.

Invictus Gaming are a highly experienced roster who have shown good things in the summer split and are arguably one of the more reliable Chinese LoL esports teams. Gen.G are a proven powerhouse, while IG are an underestimated team with a very high ceiling.

One issue IG have, however, is that they have yet to prove they can handle elite teams. This is their chance.

  • Gen.G are expected to dominate
  • Invictus Gaming are stronger than they may appear
  • A closer game is not unlikely

Gen.G Look Sharp

Gen.G can easily be considered the best team at the LoL World Championship. Admittedly, they haven’t been as dominant this year as they were in 2024-2025, but they’ve been ramping up and peaked at the right time to win the LCK Summer split.

This is a highly experienced roster that was expected to win the last two LoL World Championships. That did not happen as Gen.G apparently choked in the final stretch.

This could happen again, but until then, Gen.G are unquestionably one of the better teams in the tournament who can make it all the way if pieces fall into place in the knockout stage.

Gen.G Squad & Team News

Gen.G have not announced any roster changes.

  • Kim "Kiin" Ki-in – top lane
  • Kim "Canyon" Gun-boo – jungle
  • Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon – mid lane
  • Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk – ADC
  • Joo "Duro" Min-kyu – support

Invictus Gaming Have Tools to Succeed

Invictus Gaming are a big question mark heading to LoL Worlds. This is an incredibly stacked roster with two former world champions in TheShy and Rookie, Meiko, who is arguably the best support player from the LPL, as well as Wei, who has appeared on the big stage five times in the past.

JiaQu is the only rookie, but he has proven his worth as a stand-in for JackeyLove on Top Esports this year.

While known to be volatile, Invictus Gaming are arguably the most complete team from the LPL, who can punch up and surprise any squad at LoL Worlds. They are not super aggressive, but do have a lot of tools in their arsenal, and have proven to be highly versatile.

One downside is that IG have struggled against elite teams, and the same can happen here.

Invictus Gaming Squad & Team News

Invictus Gaming haven’t announced any roster changes.

  • Kang "TheShy" Seung-lok – top lane

Verdict

Gen.G should be winning these games more often than not. The LCK is stronger than LPL, and Gen.G are the strongest team from the Korean league.

However, as good as Gen.G are, Invictus Gaming appear to be slept on. They have the experience and the tools to make some noise, and considering this is the first game of the tournament, it is not unlikely for IG to do better than expected.
