Sekhukhune United enter their encounter with Richards Bay in fine form, having won their last two matches and moved up to sixth in the PSL. Richards Bay, meanwhile, are winless in eight matches this season and sit in the relegation zone after four consecutive losses. The article backs Sekhukhune to continue their positive run with a win, predicting both teams will score during the match. Predicted lineups suggest some injury concerns for both sides, but Sekhukhune’s momentum gives them the edge.

Key Stats - Sekhukhune in Fine Form

  • Sekhukhune United have won their last 2 matches.

Four Wins Apiece

These sides sit at four wins apiece across 12 previous meetings with four draws.

The clubs last met four weeks ago as Sekhukhune won 3-2 at Richards Bay.

Sekhukhune Returning to Form

Sekhukhune have jumped to sixth in the PSL after successive wins. Since sacking coach Cedric Kaze, they’re unbeaten in four matches (DDWW).

A 3-0 loss at Orlando Pirates in the MTN 8 semi-final second leg saw the club change coach. A 0-0 home draw vs TS Galaxy and a 1-1 draw at Stellenbosch followed as a late goal was conceded.

A 3-2 win at Richards Bay came despite being outshot 16-9. Their last match brought a 2-1 home victory over Marumo Gallants as they put up 2.55 xG.

Rich Boys with Seven Draws & Six Losses in last 13

Richards Bay are winless in eight matches this season and have lost their last four fixtures. They currently find themselves in the relegation zone.

After seven draws in nine matches, they lost 2-1 at home to AmaZulu. A poor 5-1 loss at Milford FC came with ten men.

A 3-2 home loss to Sekhukhune United was followed by a 4-1 defeat at Mamelodi Sundowns. Richards Bay were outshot 22-5 in that defeat and had just 26% possession.

Predicted Lineups & News

Sekhukhune United (4-2-3-1): Buthelezi; Mobbie, Ndlovu, Matsimbi, Kazeem; Mkhize, Khupe; Mokhoane, Rammala, Phiri; Ohizu.

Babina Noko have injury doubts over some key players. Left back Vuyo Letlapa and centre back King Ndlovu will need late fitness tests.

Tshepo Mashiloane is doubtful at right back, as is wide forward Lehlohonolo Mojela.

Richards Bay (4-3-3): Otieno; Mabuya, Mcineka, Ndelu, Sikhakhane; Nashixwa, Mthembu, Zikhali; Nzama, Xulu, T. Gumede.

Striker Gabadinho Mhango remains out injured. Midfielder Lindokuhle Zikhali returns from suspension and could start in midfield.

Thabisa Ndelu and Thembela Sikhakhane are pushing for recalls in defence after surprisingly being dropped. Sanele Barns is injured in the wide areas.

Verdict

I'm backing both sides to score in 90 minutes. Sekhukhune are backed for a victory in regulation time.
