The Cougars opened the campaign with three consecutive non-conference wins, and maintained that momentum through the first half of their Big 12 schedule as they won five straight.

They beat Colorado 24-21, West Virginia 38-24, Arizona 33-27, Utah 24-21 and Iowa State 41-27.

BYU’s run was ended by a 29-7 defeat at Texas Tech, but they rebounded strongly and booked their place in the Big 12 Championship by beating TCU 44-13, Cincinnati 26-14 and UCF 41-21.

The Cougars were unable to avenge their regular season defeat though, as they were beaten 34-7 by the Red Raiders.

Georgia Tech’s late-season stumble cost them a conference championship spot and a place in the college football playoffs.

The Yellow Jackets opened up with a couple of non-conference victories, before kicking off their ACC slate with a 24-21 victory over Clemson.

They then won a non-conference matchup, before returning to ACC duty to beat Wake Forest 30-29, Virginia Tech 35-20, Duke 27-18 and Syracuse 41-16.

Georgia Tech’s perfect run was finally ended by a surprise 48-36 defeat at NC State, and although they bounced back to beat Boston College 36-34, their ACC Championship hopes were dashed a week later.

The Yellow Jackets suffered a 42-28 defeat to Pitt, before closing out the regular season with a 16-9 loss to rivals Georgia.
