Conference Struggles Left Missouri 8-4

Missouri’s struggles in the SEC resulted in four conference defeats as they finished the campaign 8-4.

The Tigers opened with three straight non-conference wins to break into AP’s early-season rankings, and they kicked off their SEC slate with a 29-20 win over South Carolina.

They made it five-in-a-row with one more non-conference win, but that run was ended when they returned to action and lost 27-24 to Alabama.

Missouri responded with a 23-17 victory at Auburn, only to then lose back-to-back games against top-10 teams, falling 17-10 at Vanderbilt and 38-17 at home to Texas A&M.

The Tigers wrapped up the regular season by sandwiching a 17-6 defeat at Oklahoma with a 49-27 home win against Mississippi State and a 31-17 road victory at Arkansas.

10-3 Virginia Coming Off Conference Championship Loss

Virginia made it all the way to the ACC Championship Game, only to lose for a third time and end the regular season with a 10-3 record.

The Cavaliers went 2-1 to open the season, with the loss to NC State being considered a non-conference game, and when they started their ACC slate they went on a tear.

They beat Stanford 48-20 and upset Florida 46-38 to enter AP’s rankings, and then won 30-27 in Louisville before wrapping up their non-conference slate with a win over Washington State.

Virginia then went out on the road to beat NC State 17-16 and Cal 31-20, before rebounding from a 16-9 loss to Wake Forest with a 34-17 win at Duke and a 27-7 home victory against Virginia Tech.

That earned the Cavaliers a spot in the ACC Championship Game, but they came up short as they lost 27-20 to Duke.

Missouri may have lost more games, but they will be more calloused after a tough SEC schedule.
