California Went 7-5 In Regular Season

California compiled a 7-5 regular season record to earn themselves a Bowl Game invitation.

The Golden Bears kicked off the campaign with three straight non-conference wins, before losing 34-0 at San Diego State.

They rebounded in their ACC opener, winning 28-24 at Boston College, and then responded to a 45-21 defeat at home to Duke with a 21-18 success against North Carolina.

California’s conference championship hopes were dashed over the next couple of weeks though, as they were beaten 42-34 at Virginia Tech and 31-21 at home to Virginia.

The Golden Bears then closed out the regular season by sandwiching a 31-10 defeat in Stanford with wins over Louisville, 29-26, and SMU, 38-35.

Hawaii Put Together 8-4 Regular Season Record

Hawaii enter this matchup having won eight of their 12 games over the course of the regular season.

The Rainbow Warriors opened the season by winning three out of four non-conference games, but slipped up early in their Mountain West schedule as they lost 23-21 to Fresno State.

They rallied over the next few weeks though, backing up a 44-35 victory at Air Force with wins over Utah State, 44-26, and Colorado State, 31-19.

Hawaii’s run was ended by a 45-38 defeat at San Jose State, but they bounced back immediately to beat San Diego State 38-6.

The Rainbow Warriors then responded to a 38-10 loss at UNLV with a 27-7 victory when they played host to Wyoming.
