Nate Diaz and Mike Perry are set to face off in an MMA match. Diaz, with a notable drag of victories, seeks to reclaim his winning streak. Meanwhile, Perry, a skilled bare-knuckle fighter, has struggled in MMA, having not won since 2020. Diaz's experience and previous drastic victories, such as his win over Conor McGregor, suggest he could potentially pull off an upset in this match, despite Perry's aggressive bare-knuckle style. The article suggests betting on Diaz due to his comprehensive MMA skillset.

Nate Diaz is tipped to pull off an upset win on the Rousey-Carano undercard.

Mike Perry has been on a tear as a bare-knuckle fighter in recent years, but he was stacking up MMA losses before quitting the sport over five years ago.

Diaz is the better MMA fighter – if he has something left in the tank he can score an upset.

Key Numbers – Back-To-Back MMA Wins For Diaz

  • Nate Diaz won his most recent MMA fight
  • Mike Perry has lost 7 of his last 10 MMA fights
  • Mike Perry has not fought in mixed martial arts since April 2021
  • Mike Perry has not won an MMA fight since June 2020

Nate Diaz Seeking First MMA Win Since 2022

Nate Diaz is a former UFC star with a professional mixed martial arts record of 21-13 (5 KOs, 12 Subs).

Diaz made his professional debut in October 2004 before establishing himself as a top fighter in both the lightweight and welterweight divisions in the UFC.

He challenged for the lightweight title in December 2012, losing to Benson Henderson via unanimous decision, but his biggest bout came in March 2016.

The now 40-year-old stepped in at short notice to face Conor McGregor, after Rafael dos Anjos went down with injury, and he shocked the world by tapping out the Irishman in the second round.

Diaz lost the rematch with McGregor that summer – via unanimous decision, and it would be three years before he stepped back inside the Octagon.

His return fight ended in a unanimous decision win over Anthony Pettis, but he was unable to follow up that victory in November of that year as a doctor stoppage ended his fight with Jorge Masvidal for the unofficial ‘BMF’ title.

The Stockton fighter has fought just twice in MMA since then, rebounding from a June 2021 decision defeat to Leon Edwards with a fourth-round submission of Tony Ferguson in September 2022.

During his time away from mixed martial arts he has stepped inside the boxing ring twice, losing a unanimous decision to Jake Paul in August 2023 before beating Jorge Masvidal via majority decision in July 2024.

Mike Perry Targeting First MMA Victory Since 2019

Mike Perry is a former UFC fighter and current Bare Knuckle competitor who went 14-8 (11 KOs) during his MMA career.

Perry debuted in the UFC in August 2016 and won four of his first six fights before his career in the world’s premier MMA promotion went downhill.

He dropped unanimous decisions to Santiago Ponzinibbio and Max Griffin, and then failed to follow up a split decision success against Paul Felder as he was submitted by Donald Cerrone in the first.

The 34-year-old rebounded by out-pointing Alex Oliveira, only to then suffer a split decision defeat to Vicente Luque and a first-round knockout loss to Geoff Neal.

Perry avoided a third straight loss as he beat Mickey Gall by decision in June 2020, but that would prove to be his final UFC victory as he bowed out after points losses to Tim Means and Daniel Rodriguez.

Since then ‘Platinum’ has been knocked out in a couple of professional boxing matches – losing to Kenneth McNeil and Jake Paul – but he has found his niche in the world of bare knuckle fighting.

He has compiled a perfect 6-0 victory that includes knockout wins over some notable MMA fighters – Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez, Thiago Alves and Jeremy Stephens.

Verdict

Mike Perry may be on a tear in the bare knuckle fighting world, but Nate Diaz is simply the better mixed martial artist.

He has also heard the final bell in his professional boxing matches – unlike Perry – so we are going to take a punt on Diaz having enough left in the tank to score the upset.
