William Hill Review

William Hill was established in 1934. It’s had many owners down the years including Sears Holdings, Grand Metropolitan and infamous Brent Walker. In 2017, William Hill’s total revenue was £1.70 billion, it employed over 17,000 people and owned more than 2,000 betting shops making it one of the largest bookmakers in the world.

It first went online in 1999 but it had a rocky start to life with a sub-standard platform (which was developed in-house). However, those early teething troubles were ironed out and now William Hill is one of the elite online gambling providers.

It’s known for offering a great free bet welcome bonus, an array of daily specials and good market depth across multiple sports. In addition to its online sportsbook, William Hill also offers poker, bingo and a virtual and live dealer casino. With licences from the UK Gambling Commission and Gibraltar, punters know that betting at William Hill is both fair and safe.

It’s a solid lineup and there are also the common novelty and entertainment markets as well. Let’s take a closer look inside to find out the real deal.

William Hill Football Betting Tips

English and Scottish football headline William Hill’s offering in this section. They are backed up by 100 more leagues from around Europe and numerous other countries. There is also special coverage given to cup competitions such as the Champions League and Europa League on top of international tournaments, including the UEFA Nations League, Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.

William Hill may not deliver the same volume of leagues as bet365 offers but it has outstanding depth in those which it does cover. You can expect to find over 200 betting options per fixture on most UK matches and top European action. And, even less popular leagues like the Thailand Premier League and Liga 1 in Poland boast more than 100 betting markets.

William Hill Horse Racing Betting Tips & more

No stone is left unturned in this department. William Hill covers all UK and Ireland horse and greyhound racing as well as a large number of races from Australia, South Africa, India and the US. Harness racing is also available and with Betting TV and WH streaming, punters can watch most races live.

The Racing Post verdict and form guide is available for each race and there’s a tip advisor service for registered customers. For more pre-race information, there are multiple radio stations and podcasts you can listen to.

Best odds guaranteed on all UK races means you don’t have to worry what the price is as William Hill will pay out if the SP is higher. We expected more markets but Hill only offers win or each way, any favourite, 2nd favourite and Totepool betting - which is enough but you get better options at Ladbrokes. And, let’s not forget the ‘Futures’ markets. You can grab an early price of all of next year’s top races at William Hill if you’re a punter who likes to bet ante-post.

William Hill is pushing virtual racing quite a bit on its platform. These are computer-generated races that offer all the same betting opportunities. The jury is still out as to whether these are a sign of the future, you’ll need to try them for yourself to decide.

Other Sports at William Hill

Tennis has plenty of action with grand slams, ITF, WTA and Challenger tour events all listed. The number of betting opportunities varies depending on who is playing but for the big matches, the coverage is good. There are a few weaker areas, Australian Rules pre-match betting only had a small number of markets, as did MLB. However, collectively, William Hill scores positively in our estimations.

When it comes to the odds punters can get a William Hill, we can confirm that they are competitive based on the small sample which we reviewed. In fact, there is some good value to be found in certain markets with this bookmaker, but it definitely pays to shop around to see what others are offering.

William Hill Live Betting

William Hill supports live betting but it is far from a market leader in this field. It covers tennis, football, baseball, basketball, rugby, snooker and several other sports but the number of actual matches is often less than its rivals provide.

Overall, market depth isn’t too bad and there are several William Hill promotions that can be used while betting in-play. Whilst reviewing, the platform wouldn’t load the match scoreboard or stats, which wasn’t great. Hopefully, William Hill will put some effort in to make this a top notch product because it’s popular with punters.

William Hill Website & Login

There’s quite a lot happening on William Hill’s desktop platform, but it’s quite easy to float around after you’ve spent a few minutes on the site. All the sports are listed at the top followed by a menu for things such as in-play betting, live streaming, tip advisor, William Hill promotions and so on.

Basically, each sports page follows the same format. For instance, you click on ‘Football’ and you are taken to the home page for that sport. You then have a series of tabs containing: daily match lists, coupons, competitions, specials and #YourOdds. From here it is easy to find what you’re after. Placing a bet involves adding the selection (or selections) you want by clicking on the price. If you add multiple selections, the bet slip will display the various betting options available, for example single bets, an accumulator or system bets such as a Lucky 15.

If you’re out and about, you can still use the William Hill mobile website. You will be redirected to the custom built platform (https://mobet.williamhill.com/) which we found very efficient. It has a no thrills approach but it works very well. Navigation is just a matter of following the sport you want to the market you desire. Placing a bet is the same process as on a desktop. The site is available in 16 different languages and there are help buttons and FAQs if you ever need assistance.

Betting Product

Whether you use William Hill on a mobile device or desktop, you are treated to a rich-feature online betting site with an abundance of promotions to keep you engaged.

Your Odds

This latest feature is aimed at getting punters more actively involved in the betting process. Essentially, you send a tweet to @WilliamHill using the hashtag #YourOdds with a strange combination bet that isn’t listed in its markets. The bookmaker will then tweet you back a price on it happening.

William Hill Betting TV

You can watch every UK greyhound race plus horse racing from the US, Australia, Dubai and India – for free with William Hill Betting TV. There is also WHTV Live Streaming which offers UK, Irish and South African horse racing, plus football, tennis, cricket, snooker, darts, basketball and rugby among others. If that’s not enough, you can also listen to horse racing radio, greyhound radio, football commentaries and in-play betting radio.

Cash In

Most other online bookmakers call this Cash Out, but for some reason William Hill chose Cash In. Regardless of the title – it’s exactly the same feature. Cash In is great as it gives punters the option on when to settle their bet. This means you can lock in a profit before the final whistle or cut your losses on a loser. Cash In is available on single bets and accumulators covering a wide range of sports both pre-match and in-play.

William Hill Mobile App

William Hill mobile sports apps are available for iOS and Android devices. It’s recently been given an upgrade so it really does look the part. As well as being stylish, it’s very user-friendly. All the buttons are nice and chunky which makes operating it far easier for punters.

It packs many of the same features that are found on the website, so you have all of the top William Hill promotions, live streaming, cash in, partial cash out, customer service, in-play betting and a quick bet function. If you’re a mobile bettor, this app is one of the best to use.
