Team WE had a poor run through the regular season. While they started LPL Split 3 strong, they have slowed down towards the end, entering the playoffs in concerning shape.

Notably, in the final three weeks of the regular season, Team WE dropped games to ThunderTalk Gaming, EDward Gaming, and LGD Gaming, performing much worse than they did earlier in the split.

In the playoffs, WE stunned JD Gaming in the first round 3-1 before suffering crushing losses to Bilibili Gaming and Invictus Gaming. The latter two games proved that Team WE might not be well-equipped to challenge the league’s best teams, and that remains a worry even ahead of their clash with JD Gaming.

JD Gaming Can Perform Well

JD Gaming are quite an enigma. They’ve had a very up-and-down run through the regular season. They had produced some explosive victories, but also many worrying results, seemingly struggling to find a style that works for them.

Eventually, JD Gaming opted to move away from their scaling approach, which has led to much more promising results, giving hope that they can make some noise in the playoffs.

This, however, did not happen, as JD Gaming first lost against Team WE in the upper bracket quarterfinals, and were just as unsuccessful against Ninjas in Pyjamas in the lower bracket, losing their latter 0-3.

JD Gaming’s performances in the LPL Split 3 playoffs have not left a good impression. So even though JDG have shown before that they can perform, their floor is also very low.

JD Gaming showed much more during the regular season than Team WE, but while that includes showing a higher ceiling, JDG also have a lower floor. Their tendency to default to scaling hasn’t helped them at all, and even after playing better when focusing on a stronger early game, that hasn’t helped JDG realise what approach is best for them.

With added time away from play, JD Gaming could enter this match well-prepared with a clear plan of attack. But their tendency to turn into a pumpkin remains a worry, so a repeat result from the last time they faced Team WE is not unlikely.
