Italy Topping Group A

Italy have been sending a clear message that they are at EuroVolley 2026 to grab the gold, currently topping Group A with four straight victories and a 12-2 set differential.

The Azzurri started the tournament with straight-set victories against Sweden and Greece, while being slightly more challenged by Slovakia and the Czech Republic, with both games ending in their favor with a 3-1 scoreline.

They had a disappointing run in the Volleyball Nations League this season. After making it to the final tournament as the 4th-placed team in the regular phase (8-4 record), they lost to USA 3-0 in the quarterfinals.

Italy made it all the way to the EuroVolley 2023 final, which was played in front of their home crowd, and lost to Poland in straight sets (20-25, 21-25 and 23-25).

Slovenia Chasing Another EuroVolley Medal

Slovenia had a fantastic start to the EuroVolley 2026, crushing underdogs Slovakia in straight sets in the opening round, then cruising past Sweden 3-0 while allowing just 49 points to the opposition.

They were tagged massive favorites in the third round against Greece but surprisingly lost 3-1, then bounced back instantly yesterday against the Czech Republic, securing second place with a 3-1 victory.

The Little Dragons also had an amazing run at the previous European Championship three years ago, making it to the semifinals, losing to Poland 3-1, then defeating France 3-2 to secure the bronze medal.

Slovenia secured another bronze earlier this summer, beating Japan 3-1 in the Volleyball Nations League 2026. They eliminated Turkey 3-0 in the quarterfinals, then lost to Poland in straight sets in the semifinals.
