T1 and G2 Esports are set to face off in the lower bracket of the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational. T1 enters as the clear favorite, showing stronger form and boasting the world's top bottom lane duo. However, G2 is known for their adaptability and strategic surprises, with Caps and SkewMond in excellent shape. The match could see G2 challenging T1, potentially taking a map or two. While T1 is expected to win, a small bet on a G2 upset could be worthwhile.

T1 vs G2 Esports Betting Predictions

T1 and G2 Esports will cross swords on Wednesday, July 8, in the second round of the lower bracket at the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational.

This will mark the first clash between the two teams of the tournament, and a familiar clash between the two titans who’ve met on the international stage many times before.

This time, however, T1 are firm favourites to come out on top, having shown better form this tournament than G2 Esports, who are fresh off a crushing loss against T1’s rivals, Hanwha Life Esports.

Both teams have shown good things this tournament, namely T1, who are billed as firm favourites. However, while everything points towards a win for T1, G2 are no pushovers and have proven before that they can surprise the Korean titans.

  • G2 Esports’ deep map pool could be a threat
  • T1 have been playing better this event
  • T1 should win, but G2 Esports can bite

T1 Are in Good Form

T1 entered the tournament as one of the main title contenders, and they’re still in the running to lift the trophy. Despite the 2-3 loss to Bilibili Gaming, T1 have shown good things and stepped up in the last round with a convincing 3-0 sweep of FURIA.

T1’s biggest strength remains their bottom lane, with Peyz and Keria making a name for themselves as the world's best bottom-lane duo. T1 also have the “clutch” factor, being able to perform when it matters the most, making them a scary team to face.

On the other side, Doran hasn’t been great, and Faker hasn’t been posting dominant performances, and is a player G2 Esports could target.

T1 Squad & Team News

T1 haven’t made any roster changes.

  • Choi "Doran" Hyeon-jun – top lane
  • Mun "Oner" Hyeon-ju – jungle
  • Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok – mid lane
  • Kim "Peyz" Soo-hwan – ADC
  • Ryu "Keria" Min-seok – support

G2 Esports Can Challenge Anyone

G2 Esports cooked up a big surprise in the first round of the MSI, when they reverse-swept Top Esports, but then proved toothless against Hanwha Life Esports.

The recent 0-3 loss was a blow for G2 Esports, but not necessarily an indication that the LEC champions can’t be competitive. Caps and SkewMond have been incredible this tournament and could be G2’s main weapon in their clash against T1.

BrokenBlade could be a weak point, however, while Hans Sama and Labrov will have their hands full trying to contain T1’s bottom lane.

Individually, G2 Esports are outclassed in at least three positions, but they have an ace up their sleeve, being able to come up with unique strategies and drafts that can surprise the Korean squad.

G2 Esports Squad & Team News

No changes for G2 Esports.

  • Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik – top lane
  • Rudy "SkewMond" Semaan – jungle
  • Rasmus "Caps" Winther – mid lane
  • Steven "Hans Sama" Liv – ADC
  • Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis – support

Verdict

This should be T1’s game to lose, but despite G2 Esports’ crushing loss to Hanwha Life Esports in the previous round, the LEC champions are not to be overlooked.

G2 Esports have Caps and SkewMond who are in excellent shape and could realistically cause T1 issues. G2 are also a great macro team and their adaptability and flexibility is exactly what they need to challenge T1.

While G2 Esports winning would be a major surprise, G2 winning two maps would not be the most shocking thing. T1 haven’t been all that great this event, and have shown some cracks, making them a serious threat, but not invincible.

A smaller position on G2 to cause an upset is worth a look.
