Porto do their best work at home and PSV come into this contest in poor form. The visitors have a lot of important players injured which adds to their woes, a home win on the cards here.

Key Stats

  • Porto have won 6 of their last 7 home matches.
  • Porto have seen BTTS in their last 5 matches.
  • PSV have lost their last 3 away matches.
  • PSV have seen BTTS in 7 of their last 8 away matches.

HTH

Porto have met PSV on four occasions, holding a 2-1 advantage alongside one draw.

Porto 0-2 in the Champions League

Porto have won nine of their opening 11 matches this season, both defeats coming in the Champions League.

A deserved 2-0 defeat to Manchester City was followed by a 3-2 loss at Real Betis. They took a 2-1 lead in Sevilla before defensive errors allowed the Spanish side to take all three points.

Francesco Farioli’s side have had a perfect start to the Liga Portugal title defence, winning all eight games with 20 goals scored and four conceded.

Injuries Hitting PSV Hard

PSV have hit a slump, losing three of their previous four matches which began with a 3-2 defeat at Twente.

Peter Bosz’s side bounced back to beat Heerenveen 2-0 before falling to a 1-0 loss at Leipzig in the Champions League. Ivan Perisic failed to convert an early penalty and it proved costly in Germany.

Sven Mijnans opened the scoring at Den Haag on Saturday but was sent off before half-time. PSV went close to holding onto a point before conceding in added time to go down 2-1 and slip to third in the Eredivisie.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Porto (4-3-3) Diogo Costa; Alberto Costa, Jan Bednarek, Jakub Kiwior, Zaidu Sanusi; Victor Froholdt, Pablo Rosario, Gabri Veiga; Pepê, Samu Aghehowa, Oskar Pietuszewski

Jan Bednarek is available after suspension. Francisco Moura is expected to be dropped here with Zaidu Sanusi a chance to return at left-back.

Oskar Pietuszewski and Samu Aghehowa are expected to start with Borja Sainz and André Silva making way.

PSV Eindhoven (4-2-3-1) Matej Kovár; Sergiño Dest, Ryan Flamingo, Armando Obispo, Mauro Júnior; Kodai Sano, Noah Fernandez; Ivan Perisic, Sven Mijnans, Ruben van Bommel; Mikkel Bro Hansen

Midfielders Jerdy Schouten and Paul Wanner remain out injured alongside strikers Sam Lammers, Ricardo Pepi and Alassane Pléa.

Guus Til went off in the first half in Den Haag and his loss would be a big blow. Mikkel Bro Hansen could start up front as a result.

Verdict

PSV have lost three straight road games and are missing a lot of attackers for this one. The Dutch side can score, but Porto are getting close to full strength and with Samuel Aghehowa starting, they can pick up all three points.
