Myanmar vs Laos Predictions & Tips - High-Scoring Home Win Likely in ASEAN Championship clash

Myanmar are poised to strengthen their bid for Group B qualification as they face Laos, a side already eliminated from the competition after conceding at least four goals in each match so far. Myanmar's history of high-scoring games and dominance in head-to-head stats make them strong favorites. Laos, despite their poor record, have shown a capacity to score, suggesting both teams could find the net. Expect Myanmar to secure a comfortable win, with multiple goals and a likely BTTS outcome.

Myanmar vs Laos Predictions

Myanmar will look to boost their semi-final qualification hopes when they host Laos at Thuwunna Stadium.

The hosts should romp to a comfortable win, but could concede to bring up BTTS at a big price.

I have my stake on Myanmar/over 3.5 goals and both teams to score on Tuesday.

Home Win/BTTS Backed

  • Myanmar won 6 of their last 11 matches
  • Myanmar have seen over 3.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 matches
  • Myanmar have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 7 matches
  • Myanmar have seen BTTS in their last 6 matches against Laos
  • Laos lost 9 of their last 11 matches
  • Laos have seen over 3.5 goals in 4 of their last 6 matches
  • Laos have seen BTTS in 13 of their last 20 matches

Myanmar Dominate H2H Record

Myanmar and Laos have met nine times since 2007. Myanmar won six games, while three matches finished deadlocked.

Laos have never beaten Tuesday’s hosts, with Myanmar winning three of the previous four encounters.

Twenty-four goals were scored in the last six meetings between these nations since 2014.

Myanmar Boost Group B Qualification Hopes

Myanmar return to Thuwunna Stadium after claiming an impressive 4-1 victory against the Philippines in New Clark City.

Kyaw Min Oo and Than Paing gave Myanmar a two-goal lead before Jarvey Gayoso pulled one back in the 68th minute. Late goals from Win Naing Tun and Than Paing completed a comfortable victory for Jorn Andersen’s side.

The White Angels had slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Malaysia in their Group B opener last week.

An inability to maintain consistency in performance continues to plague Andersen’s side. Myanmar won seven but lost six of their last 13 fixtures.

Much more consistent performers in the goal markets, at least three goals were scored in 12 of 14 games played since December 2024. BTTS landed in ten of those matches.

Laos Suffer Third Defeat

Laos make the trip to Myanmar still searching for their first points in Group B. Vladica Grujic’s men have lost all three Group B fixtures, including a 4-1 home defeat against the Philippines on Saturday.

Damoth Thongkhamsavath gave Laos a surprise lead with a long-range strike after seven minutes.

Still ahead at halftime, the Million Elephants suffered a second-half collapse, with the Philippines hitting back with four unanswered strikes.

That defeat followed heavy losses against Thailand (5-0) and Malaysia (4-0) earlier this month.

Grujic’s inexperienced side have now conceded at least four goals in all three games at these finals and are already eliminated from the competition.

Despite a lack of form, Laos have shown an ability to get on the scoresheet in the past year. The South-East Asian underdogs scored at least one goal in 11 of their last 16 internationals.

Myanmar vs Laos Squads and Team News

Myanmar Squad

Goalkeepers: Sann Satt Naing, Nay Lin Htet, Zin Nyi Nyi Aung
Defenders: Hein Phyo Win, Hein Zeyar Lin, Soe Moe Kyaw, Nanda Kyaw, Zwe Khant Min, Phyo Pyae Sone, Myat Phone Khant
Midfielders: Kyaw Min Oo, Lwin Moe Aung, Wai Lin Aung, Aung Myo Khant, Myat Kaung Khant, Ye Yint Aung, Zaw Win Thein, Kaung Myat Nyein
Forwards: Than Paing, Win Naing Tun, Maung Maung Lwin, Min Maw Oo, Khun Kyaw Zin Hein, Shine Wanna Aung, Hein Htet Aung, Saw Myo Zaw

Andersen could retain the majority of the team that started the impressive victory against the Philippines.

Than Paing should continue to lead the attack after scoring twice in New Clark City.

Captain Maung Maung Lwin is expected to start on the right, while Win Naing Tun is also likely to feature for the home side.

Andersen praised his side after the impressive win against the Philippines.

“We produced a good performance at home against Malaysia on Saturday but were very unfortunate,” said Andersen.

“We played in a similar way today and created many chances. Against Malaysia, however, we were unable to convert them and eventually lost 2-1.

“Before today’s match, we told the players to perform and fight in the same way again, and that is what they did. This time, we were able to score our chances and had more luck in front of goal, which allowed us to win.”

Laos Squad

Goalkeepers: Kop Lokphathip, Keo-Oudone Souvannasangso, Soulisack Souvankham
Defenders: Phoutthavong Sangvilay, Sonevilay Phetviengsy, Kaharn Phetsivilay, Phetdavanh Somsanith, Viengxay Sidavong, Xayasith Singsavang, Bounphaeng Xaysombath, Vongsakda Chanthaleuxay, Phonsack Sisavath, Vilai Kulungsy, Avilay Siphavanh, Phahatxay Keomany
Midfielders: Chanthavixay Khounthoumphone, Sayfon Keohanam, Damoth Thongkhamsavath, Khonesavanh Keonuchanh, Phayak Siphanom, Somlith Sengvanny
Forwards: Soukphachan Lueanthala, Chony Waenpaseuth, Kouaycheng Noophackde, Bounphachan Bounkong, Bounchay Chernvanglien

Grujic could retain the starting lineup that led the Philippines at half-time on Saturday. The Southeast Asian underdogs have no reported injury worries.

Thongkhamsavath should continue in the number 10 role after scoring Laos’ first goal of the tournament.

Kouaycheng Noophackde is expected to lead the Laos attack again on Tuesday.

Verdict

Myanmar delivered an excellent performance to claim a convincing 4-1 victory against the Philippines last week.

The White Angels should again have too much quality, especially against a Laos side that conceded at least four goals in each of their three Group B fixtures.

I have stakes on a home win with at least four goals, and I also fancy BTTS to land at a tasty price.
