Zhejiang vs Wuhan Three Towns Predictions & Tips - Goals Backed in CSL Contest

Zhejiang face Wuhan Three Towns in the Chinese Super League on Friday. Recent stats and head-to-head history both favor Zhejiang, who have won 5 of their last 6 matches against Wuhan. Both teams have been involved in high-scoring games, suggesting over 2.5 goals is a solid bet. Wuhan continue to struggle away from home and remain in the relegation zone. With key players available, especially Zhejiang’s Alexandru Mitrita, the recommendation is a home win and a bet on 2.5+ goals at Huanglong Stadium.

Zhejiang vs Wuhan Three Towns Predictions

Zhejiang take on struggling Wuhan in the Chinese Super League on Friday.

Wuhan are in serious relegation trouble, and should operate with an attack-minded approach.

Over 2.5 goals looks like a solid choice, while I also expect Zhejiang to claim victory.

Recent Stats Point to a Home Win

  • Zhejiang won 3 of their last 4 home matches
  • Zhejiang won 5 of their last 6 matches against Wuhan
  • Zhejiang have seen an average of 3.41 goals per game in their last 12 home matches
  • Wuhan lost their last 5 away matches against Zhejiang
  • Wuhan lost 2 of their last 4 away matches
  • Wuhan have seen an average of 3.83 goals per game in their last 12 away matches

Zhejiang and Wuhan Three Towns Renew Rivalry

Zhejiang and Wuhan Three Towns have met on eleven occasions since 2020. Zhejiang won seven games while Wuhan Three Towns secured three victories. Only one match finished level.

Friday’s hosts won five of their last six encounters, including a 3-2 win in last season’s corresponding fixture.

Zhejiang Look to Bounce Back

Zhejiang return to Huanglong Stadium after a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Tianjin Jinmen Tiger last weekend.

Xadas gave Tianjin an early lead before Alexandru Mitrita levelled in first-half stoppage time. Shengpan Ji’s late goal secured a narrow victory for the hosts.

Ross Aloisi’s side could consider themselves unfortunate not to pick up at least a point. Zhejiang dominated possession with 70%, outshot the hosts 20-12 and finished with a higher xG total of 2.34 compared with Tianjin’s 1.75.

Before last weekend’s defeat, Zhejiang had enjoyed the best performance of their season, with a 6-0 home win against Yunnan. Alexandru Mitrita bagged a hat-trick in a dominant victory at Huanglong Stadium.

Frequently involved in high-scoring outcomes, over 2.5 goals landed in 11 of 15 games played since mid-May. An average of 3.86 goals per game were scored in those fixtures.

Wuhan Three Towns Struggle on the Road

Wuhan Three Towns come into Friday’s CSL contest after a frustrating 1-1 home draw against Henan in the CSL last weekend.

Jhonder Cadiz’s second-half penalty looked likely to seal the points before Gustavo’s equaliser - five minutes into added time - rescued a point for the away side.

Henan were good value for their point, dominating possession (62%-38%), shots (24-12) and xG (2.39-1.33).

Unable to turn draws into victories, Wuhan have been held in four of their last six CSL fixtures.

Ricardo Soares’s struggling side remain inside the relegation zone, four points short of safety with just five games to play.

A poor road record has been a major concern this season. Three Towns failed to win 11 of 12 away CSL fixtures (W1, D5, L6). At least three goals were scored in eight of those matches.

Zhejiang vs Wuhan Three Towns Team News

Zhejiang: (4-5-1) Bo Zhao; Junchi Xu, Haofan Liu, Lucas Possignolo, Guowen Sun; Jin Cheng, Jin-Seob Park, Qianglong Tao, Marko Tolic, Alexandru Mitrita; Yudong Wang.

Zhejiang boss Aloisi has no reported injury issues.

Alexandru Mitrita is expected to feature after scoring a hat-trick in his last home appearance.

Wuhan Three Towns: (4-4-2) Jingqi Fang; Tian Ming, Antoine Leautey, Ang Li, Haofeng Xu; Kaimu Zheng, Xiaobin Zhang, Adriano, Kilian Bevis; Gustavo Sauer, Jhonder Cadiz.

Head coach Soares is likely to keep faith with much of the same XI that picked up a point against Henan.

Jhonder Cadiz has scored 17 goals in 25 CSL appearances and will lead the line, with support from Brazilian forward Gustavo Sauer.

Verdict

Wuhan are in need of the points, and that should lead to an open encounter on Friday.

I have stakes on over 2.5 match goals and a home win at Huanglong Stadium.
