The Denver Broncos are tipped to cover the spread as betting underdogs against the Kansas City Chiefs in their upcoming Monday Night Football matchup. Despite Patrick Mahomes returning for the Chiefs and their historical head-to-head edge, Denver has covered in 7 of the last 9 meetings and is returning a strong defense. Last season, the Broncos made a deep playoff run, while the Chiefs’ postseason streak ended after a six-game losing streak. Denver are tipped to cover as a betting underdog in Monday Night Football.

Patrick Mahomes is back for the Chiefs, but the Broncos have a very healthy knack for covering against KC, and they return a defense that dominated during the 2025 season.

Denver Broncos Lost In AFC Championship Last Season

Denver have their sights set on Super Bowl glory after seeing an injury derail their quest last season.

The Broncos won 14 regular season games to finish atop the AFC West and claim the number one seeding for the playoffs.

They then beat Buffalo 33-30 in overtime in the Divisional Round, but the big news coming out of that game was a season-ending injury to starting quarterback Bo Nix.

With backup Jarrett Stidham getting the start at a snowy Mile High, Denver suffered a 10-7 defeat to New England in the AFC Championship.

Nix is back for this season though, and the Broncos enter it having gone 2-1 in the preseason, beating Atlanta 27-7 and Minnesota 34-6 either side of a 33-13 defeat to Green Bay.

Kansas City Chiefs’ Postseason Streak Ended In 2025

Kansas City go into the new season looking to get back to the playoffs, having seen their postseason streak end last time around.

The Chiefs were still in the hunt in late November after a 23-20 overtime win over Indianapolis lifted them to 6-5.

They did not win again though, closing out the season with a six-game losing skid that left them with a 6-11 record.

Patrick Mahomes also went down with a season-ending injury during that sequence, but he is back for this Monday night meeting with the Broncos.

Kansas City go into this matchup having failed to win any of the pre-season games, losing 20-12 to the Los Angeles Rams and 16-15 at Tampa Bay, before playing out a 9-9 tie with Seattle.

Verdict

Mahomes is back and that is a big boost for the Chiefs, but we are tempted by the Broncos and the free points.

Denver have routinely covered against Kansas City during the Reid-Mahomes era, and they are returning a stout defense that played a key role in their deep playoff run last season.
