Australia vs Philippines Live Stream & Tips – Can Boomers Remain Unbeaten in the World Cup 2027 Qualifiers?

The Philippines come into their matchup against Australia exhausted after a dramatic double-overtime loss to New Zealand. They've also struggled offensively in recent meetings with the Boomers, producing only 122 combined points across two games. The recommended bet is taking the Under 168.5 points in the overall points market, as the Philippines’ fatigue and scoring issues are likely to persist, making a high-scoring affair unlikely.

Match Preview

This Group A clash sees Australia host the Philippines, with the Boomers aiming to complete a perfect qualifying campaign, while the visitors look to build momentum before the next phase.

Australia Looking to Stay Perfect

Australia are likely to carry over the maximum number of points to the next stage of the FIBA World Cup 2027 qualifiers, currently topping Group A with a 5-0 record.

Their only true challenges came in the opening rounds, earning back-to-back victories against New Zealand, 84-79 at home and 79-77 on the road, followed by dominant performances in late February against Guam 93-80 and the Philippines 93-66.

On Friday, the Boomers earned a convincing victory against Guam at RAC Arena, controlling the boards with a 54-28 rebounding advantage and forcing 27 turnovers. Tyrese Proctor was named man of the match with 22 points.

Philippines Might Struggle With Fitness

The Philippines qualified for the second phase, but their results and performances have been far from convincing, currently sitting in 3rd place in Group A with a 2-2 record.

Both of their victories came in the opening two rounds against last-placed Guam, winning the first clash on the road 87-46, then 95-71 at home, while their first loss came in the follow-up clash against New Zealand 69-66 in late February.

A couple of days later, they hosted Australia and were heavily outplayed 93-66, losing all four quarters. The Philippines had 12 turnovers to Australia's five and shot just 34% from the field. Justin Brownlee was their standout performer with 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Gilas Pilipinas were tagged as massive underdogs on Friday against New Zealand but offered great resistance, forcing two overtime periods before ultimately losing 106-102. Juan de Liano and Karl Kevin Quiambao scored 23 points each.

Verdict

The Philippines are probably exhausted after that dramatic double-overtime loss to New Zealand and struggled to score against the Boomers in the last two head-to-head meetings (just 122 combined points in those two games). I am backing Under 168.5 in the points market.
