Team Vitality have been showing excellent form of late, winning StarLadder StarSeries Fall and ESL Pro League Season 24. However, they will not have their full roster at disposal for PGL Masters Bucharest as Vitality will be without their in-game leader, apEX.

This is a major blow for the Bees, at a time when it seemed like they’ve started to gain some traction. Even though the core remains strong, it is fair to tame our expectations for IGL-less Team Vitality.

Team Vitality Are Weakened

Team Vitality had an explosive start to the year, but slowed down in May and endured a long stretch of underwhelming results up until September, when they sorted out their roster situation.

Since September, Team Vitality have made semifinals of BLAST Open Fall and won both the StarLadder StarSeries Fall and ESL Pro League Season 24.

With those results, it was fair to assume that Vitality are slowly getting back in top shape, but even with improved performances, the expectations for the Bees at PGL Masters Bucharest should be low.

That is mainly due to the absence of their in-game leader apEX, who will skip the event due to personal reasons and is replaced by jL. While jL is a quality player, missing your IGL for one of the biggest events of the year is not optimal.

9z Team Need to Wake Up

9z Team have been underwhelming since their title run at XSE Pro League in July. They’ve since attended five tournaments and have not placed higher than top-six once.

On a more positive note, 9z Team have been showing some pulse of late. They have recently beaten BetBoom Team and Aurora Gaming, and even played a close game against Team Falcons at the Thunderpick World Championship.

While they still have a lot to prove, 9z Team have the individual talent to perform at the highest level, and considering they’re facing VItality who are without their main IGL, 9z can be hopeful to leave a mark.

Verdict

Team Vitality v 9z Team

Considering what Team Vitality have accomplished in recent months, they should be expected to make a deep run at PGL Masters Bucharest. However, they are without their in-game leader, which isn't ideal.

From a betting perspective, Team Vitality should not be favoured by this amount. Even though the core which dominated the scene over the last month is still there, missing an in-game leader can cause issues.

Moreover, 9z Team, despite their mediocre results lately, are still an elite roster that should be able to find holes in Vitality’s play and do some damage this weekend.
